I'm Moving North of Vag (5/3/1)

That’s right. I figured I’ve spent enough time being a pussy and it’s time to start doing some conditioning after lifting. I was thinking of 2 days of hill sprints and 2 days of kettlebells.

So it looks like I figured this shit out, right? Well no. I know how to sprint hills. The thing is just happen to have bought a kettlebell and have no clue how to use it aside from a swing and a snatch. I was wondering ifanyone here can suggest

I can take quite the pounding but because it’ll be my first time I don’t want to go too rough. Something I can ease into that won’t leave me crying in the corner with a bad taste in my mouth.

Start with two days a week of hill sprints, after two full cycles (including deloads) add in a third session (kettlebells) after two full cycles (including deloads) add in a fourth session.

Marathon, not a sprint.

LOL

pretty sure T-Nation put out an article on pressing variations the other day, and the picture on the front page of the website was thibadeau doing some kind of press. maybe look into that? the article was just in the last few days. maybe yesterday.

Interesting. I want to hear what more guys say before I decide to do this exactly, but I like it.

Thanks man. I’ll look into it.

This is the way I figure it.

Add in all four sessions, youtube some kettlebell complexes and do them at the end of your upper days, and do hill sprints at the end of your lower days. HOWEVER! Monitor closely because I think throwing people into the ringer too fast tends to lead to people getting stale and feeling like total garbage and stalling their lifts. (Do not say over-training, shit is gay)

Or,

you could take a N.O.V. approach, be smart. Systematically add in sessions to direct you towards your goals.

Think about it this way.

Hypothetically you begin doing only two lower sessions per week, and after two weeks you stall on some fat loss. Well from here you can add another fat-burning session (along with proper diet) to aid in moving n.o.v and conditioning yourself. Say after you add the third session you stall again, well add a fourth.

Increase conditioning over time, not instantly. I am positive that Walter Payton did not begin running 40 hill sprints per session one day. He worked up.

Do a day or two and see how you feel. If it interferes with your lifting, then stop. If not, go for broke.

^ I put in 2. We’ll see how this cycle goes.

I started with two days just to see how I could recover. I recovered just as easily. What I’m thinking of doing is that after 2 cycles I’ll throw in another 2 days. If I can’t hills print I’ll do burpees and mountain climbers. It won’t be the same because I think sprints are more useful in day to day life (playing sports etc.) burpees can really get the heart pumping.

you can try things like 400 meter sprints and 2 mile runs, as well.
