I’m in a weird place with that right now. If I qualify for the LW WSM event with my video submissions, I’ll have to keep in range of 175. But that show is in November. Strongman Corp nationals is a little sooner, but I have a little more flexibility for it. I’m at least allowed to do that show at 175 or 200. I think I can play it by ear for now. If I get strong enough, and think I can get an Arnold invite in the 200 class, I’ll likely do Nationals at that weight.
I know you stay fairly lean, but I also know you have taken basically the last year off… are you at a point where you are cutting by losing fat? Or are you so close that you’re doing a water cut?
1st, congrats on the record, the win, and the nationals bid.
2nd, I can’t stand it when people do stuff like dropping out of a show due to competitors. I wouldn’t do that and a true competitor wouldn’t either, even if I know I’m fighting for second, or third.
3rd, WTF is with all of these max distance husafell carries? I trained for months for the husafell last year at nationals (that bitch was FUCKING heavy too. The MWO husafell at nats was heavier than the husafell that the 105k pros used at ASM) and all I have to say is fuck that shit.
It’s one of the ONLY events I’ve had to do 3 times at this point. I hate it. It’s even worse when it’s a light weight and a long time, like 90 seconds. I’m more ok with max distance if the weight is gonna be crazy heavy and you’re just not gonna get very far (like the actual H stone at the Arnold… that’s entertaining to me.)
This is what I look like today. I didn’t diet down to this, this is just how I walk around. I’ll likely stay close to this level of definition as I put on weight as well. I woke up at 190 today.
So no, I don’t have a lot of fat available to cut. I could MAYBE cut as much as 5 lbs of fat without really sacrificing performance.
