I'm Back & I'm Sorry

Interesting that you decide to come back as soon as Prof X said he was leaving. Also, I’d like to know who you’ve been training under for your MMA.

Prof X has nothing to do with my comeback. We’ve battled before but I can respect he’s good at what he does and would know a lot more than I do in some areas. I know a lot more than him in other areas. If he were to comeback and lock horns with me, I would welcome it.

MMA is a recent thing for me. Sit back and I shall tell you a tale.

I grew up on the diet coke of Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do. In the circles I hang around, the boys love to hang it on me for the old TKD but I feel it got me interested in MA so it served it’s purpose.

A few years back I got into Muay Thai and have enjoyed it immensely. I am certain that it is the very best MA. I’ve trained with a number of accomplised MT practitioners and commercial venues. I would rate myself very advanced and will be looking to get into pro Muay Thai very soon. It is big up in Queensland so the opportunities are there.

I’ve been into Jiu Jitsu for a while now too. I started with the GI but realised that was as useless as tits on a bull for MMA. I now train with a bunch of aspring MMA fighters where we have moulded ourselves into some pretty formidable MMArtists.

The recent move to the Gold Coast has been a positive one for Kickboxing and Muay Thai but is lacking in the way of MMA. I’m not too pissed about it though because I probably enjoy pure Muay Thai a little better than MMA anyway.

Hope that covers it…

He said “who”. Let’s hear some names.[/quote]

fallout188 wouldn’t know any name of an Australian MMArtist past Elvis Sinosec. What’s the point. I could throw Kickboxing identities such as Zambo or Ozkan and I’m sure there would be a quick scramble to google or wikipedia. Not that I get trained by them or train with them, but most people’s knowledge of MMA in Australia is poor to say the least.

The Aussies haven’t produced many names when it comes to MMA. Someday they will claim me as their own when I’m standing over a knocked out cold Fedor… ;>

You could be as good as you say with your Muay Thai, and since I’ll probably never see you on TV or in a real life I’ll just assume for the moment you are.

But after you said that training with a Gi is useless I’m seriously questioning your knowledge and skill of MMA. You become 10 times better no Gi if you train with a Gi. The little details and complexities of rolling with a Gi make the no Gi techniques a breeze.

I’d be willing to bet that 95% of all Pro Mixed Martial Artists have trained with a Gi and have worked through a few of the belts. And even if you’re learning no Gi from a guy who is extremely good at BJJ, where do you think he got all of those nice submissions from? He rolled with a Gi I can almost garuntee it.

Mixed Martial Arts. Many different Martial Arts. Unless you only have 1 trainer which would be rare, I’d still like to hear a name.

Thanks for the faith.

It’s not useless but I’d rather learn without the GI. I’m surely not alone on that one.

There are 2 schools of thought on that one. I’m in the one that thinks you are far better off training the way you fight. For me, that does not require a GI.

We are fast approaching a new brand of MMA. To me there is no point learning a specific discipline. Soon just learning MMA will be the way. Things like BJJ, Muay Thai and wrestling will be the staples of MMA but few will bother going through the belts and etc.

I’d rather scrap the GI and all the traditional shit and learn the things that only matter in the Ring or Octagon.

I’ll PM it to you. I don’t feel I have to prove it to the masses.

Make sure everyone knows if I renege on the PM.
