James - I was thinking about it, what do you think? Maybe too much? I actually really enjoy it. The 4th day I may put to an end and focus more on conditioning twice a week.

I don’t see why you shouldn’t run it all year. The only downside is that it doesn’t allow for peaking near a meet. Do you plan on trying to get leaner this year? This would be a brutal program to try to run during a deficit.
james
Lula - Your presence here is all I need!
Tyrfryer - Thanks Bud, you and me both! Generally that doesent happen in the Over 35 forum much, but if it does we gots to regulate!
Up - DONT YOU EVER PUT YOUR BOOTY IN DANGER…EVER!!!
James - What I want to do is incorporate 2 conditioning days in my regimen along with the 3 lifting days, not necessarily to get leaner per se but to get in better overall shape, Im not talking real hardcore conditioning, possibly sprints and sleds twice a week. I think being in overall better shape will help my lifts and not hurt it. Im actually may do some sprints tomorrow…this will be my first time EVER so im calling them sprints in name only LOL.
Edit
James I plan on doing 2 full meets a year when the time comes in July for my next meet I will use the template Fischer gave me for 4 weeks and possibly do 1 conditioning day.

No need for sorry
I can’t believe I missed all the action. It’s Up’s fault -after I watch her videos, my energy is spent. :-))
I saw you post in Ben Rice’s log, is that kid super frickin’ amazing or what! I think that is one of the best logs I’ve ever followed. Laughed my ASS off when he mentioned that the interwebz WarriorZ were giving him advice on squat form -his 3X+ BW squat form!!! LMFAO.
Keep up the good work Matty.
Thanks PG…seriously Ben is pretty amazing, down to earth and a smart kid, hes gonna go far in all that he does.
Quick and Dirty today…
I was supposed to do some conditioning type stuff outside but its waaay to cold…
INCLINE PRESS - 135/15 185/5 225/5 245/5 275/5 225/12
DB SPOON PRESS - 50/20 70/15 100/100
ROLLING TRI EXT - 50/15
HANG CLEANS - 90/10 135/10 185/5 135/10
First time doing hang cleans, me likey tougher than I thought, gonna really work on form before increasing weight.
DB COMPLEX
35LBS First 2 rnds 45 last round, kept the weight light as I want these complexes to be conditioning and not effect any strength gains I may have…
DB SWINGS X10
GOBLET SQUAT X10
DB SHOULDER PRESS X10
PUSHUPS X12
3 ROUNDS…
Now I am going to hang out with my old friend and Gentleman Jack and his old lady Ginger.
LETS GO BIG BLUEEEE

Derick, i wasn’t addressing you bud. You do Matty a disservice by acting like a authoritarian personality.
you should learn to judge whether a claim is valid not by who says it but by its truth value, or if it makes sense.
… I think he did. Several of the things you said about Matty’s OHP didn’t make sense.
EDIT: And by some I mean really everything except the breathing point, and even that was difficult to decipher.
x2 on the breathing point. “Forcefully exhaling” on an OHP means core pressure is going to go down and reduce stability. Should the main cue on an OHP be to drive the head foward as you approach the top of the lift, rather than breathing out? I mean, Matty OHP’s more than I do, so wtf do I know?
I know that when following a program, and there’s a book about it, it’s probably a good idea to buy it THEN follow it, rather than hoping everyone will give me their e-books for free.
Pic related. I guess.
good point on the breathing, you should never exhale during a rep on an excercise that requires huge effort and core stability. That air in the belly is what holds you tight. I have seen dudes collapse trying to squat because they lost their air.
I said towards the end of the press to forcefully exhale not to start and not mid point…
I wonder how much silee OHP’s. Virtually everyone with a strong OHP uses a false grip… if I remember correctly, Matty broke through a plateau by starting to grip it like that.
Matty can I count on you to support the Niners this weekend?
I’ve done 220 at 160lb . But not currently since much of the lift from the floor is explosive and entails power, and i am much much older now, as i have stated else where.
Ask Tommy Kono how much he lifts now or can over head press, its not the same as when he was in his prime.
I have done 170 a few months back. my problem is at my age my lower back and hip take a beating from this. I am going to start doing seated presses to try to solve that problem. I know the smith machine is easy did 5lbs over my weight. I am not claiming this is noteworthy, and the logic of this is it doesn’t matter what i did.
People who know what they are doing in the clean and jerk, since they don’t do the press any more in the Olympics, start with a hook grip then they would readjust their grip with a thumbs over the bar. This is just a point not really relevant here. a strong thumbs over the bar is the way to go. Although and ( make sure you read this) a person can have a style that is technically wrong, but still excel. We can look to Yogi Berra on hitting or Roberto Clemente also but both and especially the latter was a superstar…
Nice work Matty, I would op for the sled work myself , I have used one and its great. I have got one in my garage about half built for my sons soccer team. I told his coach about it and they are going to us it in there conditioning drills this spring.
I hafta tell ya I was scared shitless that my pussy fat was going to be gone after tightening my muscles so much
LOL we don’t want that now do we? lol
Nice work today Matty; how long did that DB complex take (est)? Is the pussy fat coming off quick or slow?
Thanks for the Tabata linky, good stuff there.

hey, I am taking crazy pills and I’m no where near as whacked.
Silee,
Please go away. From square one you kinda identified yourself as a douche-bag, and as a consequence nobody here really wants you polluting Matty’s log. None of us is the least bit intimidated or impressed by what you’re doing, and we’re pretty unanimous that we think you act like a child. If you want to make a “name” for yourself and earn a presence, this IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT!
And, since you enjoy offering advice nobody asked for, I’ll give you some. If you reply to this, you only increase your douche-factor. Take the high road.
Walk away.
Matty, I apologize for coming unglued.
Silee - POIDH
Tyrfryer - Not long if you follow the tabata protocal as it is 20 secs on 10 secs off and I believe 1 minute between rounds. I didnt have a stop watch so I basically just used a rep approach.
Dude - Thanks, I have seen a sled a Dicks sporting goods for about a $100. I dont know how good the quality is however, I may order one online and just purchase plates from there. Conditioning is the main word there, have to remember not to use it as a strength tool.
Austin - I have no idea…
Kent - I agree maybe he should school us on the new term of “periodization” lol. Check his 531 log.
Not for nothing, but I can’t even get past Up’s post at the top. What are we talking about again…
Yes! Love it quick and dirty. And I’m glad you liked the hang cleans! They’re fun, no?
In fact, that whole sesh yesterday is good shit, Matty. Looked like a nice pre-party workout. I’m totally digging the condo vibe you got going in here. Woot woot!

Thanks Masch, I guess the issue off of the first session ever with Hang Cleans is not upright rowing the movement…as everything with me, its a work in progress…
Kinda hungover today going to try and not puke at the gym today…Im like a 12 year old girl who just got drunk off of Wine coolers and Zima, I used to be such a heavy weight when it came to the drank…no more, I guess its a good thing.
