Lula - Thanks yo…I actually tried the Front Squats with the clean grip but with the straps as my wrists just arent flexible enough. Me no likey, as part of the bar dislodged from shoulder crease, I was supposed to do 5. Ill go back to the BB style front squat.

I was doing 3x10 and just progressed them from raising myself from parallel, to lowering myself to parallel, and then below. I think it will definitely get the thighs activating, but not sure how much size it’ll put on. That I’d be interested to know!

I know we all like to say we did such and such when we were younger but I did press 220 at 160 at 19 years of age. But i did it from the floor with a clean and press. nevertheless you have to approach that bar with anger and tighten up your fat( tighten up your entire body, take a deep breath and hold then scream like a banchiee( no disrespect to any American Indians) and you will do it.

I have no idea what your talking about…are you giving me pointers on my OH press? If so Im not sure if I follow. My bench? My max bench is 330 and my max OH Press is 230, so I dont understand.

What do you mean tighten my fat?

I am currently running Madcow 5x5 and while I did max out on my OH press a few weeks ago I only did that because it has been approximately 8 weeks since my last max out attempt, I recently OH pressed 225x3 as well. I am not a screamer at the gym, sorry.

I think you went to the first page of this log, wherein I hit 225x2 that was in September its now January 2012, Honestly I have been happy with the progress of my OH press and do follow a protocol that has allowed me to get stronger and maxing out is something I may do every 6-8 weeks.

Some unfettered advice when posting in logs, you should probably check the date because some of the threads that you have posted in have been dead for a long time.

matty yeah i was making some point about your overhead press. Well you know now matter what our over head press is or any lift for that matter, if we can improve it by fixing some flaws that’s to ones advantage.

On Banshhee just a stupid remark. WHat i do want to say is are you holding your breath as you are 2/3 more or less into the lift? then at that point expelling in forceful way your breath?

Pussy holding stuff , your grip i was referring to. From what i can see its not tight enough. that relates to your grip and yes i think you can do better with a thumb over the bar very tight grip.

On Screaming let me revise that by saying just expell your breath forcefully.

Oh and the expression " tighten your fat" is something that means tighten your body so much that you make the fat disappear , this will activate all the muscles needed to get that bar moving and to lockout.

I myself always loved the standing press. But technically I don’t do a military press with the two heals together. But on the standing press for me if i am going to have a problem with it its after i have the bar up on shoulders coming from the clean. you might give a little push with your hips once you have the bar out of the rack and at shoulder height.

however I am using a false grip always do when OH pressing, When pressing overhead I want it as strict as possible with regards to no drive with hips or any lower body movement as it would then be considered more of a push press…I cant say I agree with regards to pulling the bar apart during an OH press, Ive heard that cue often with a flat bench press, even with that movement I never understood it or found any value in it.

My ultimate goal is a 3 plate OH press, a long ways to go but it is something I will eventually attain.
