Deload weeks are for the weak.

All joking aisde though I haven’t taken one after any of the meets I’ve done. In fact I tend to PR on one of the big three 2-3 days after a meet. I do hit a wall at the start of a following week but its not something you can’t push through.

Because of this I’m starting to think that while geared lifters might need that deload week raw lifters might not.

At least I don’t.

No go enjoy your birthday Matty.

happy birthday, dude!

um yeah about the deload. just thinking of how people tend to get sick (cold and flu type stuff or systems failure) directly after meets…

Interesting Joe.

That is why I love medicine you just cannot put everyone in a box, people respond different to stimuli.

You would have to agree though that a Deload is actually a good thing for long term success. Some of the most experienced PL’rs incorporate them.

I havent scheduled one pretty much since Feb of this year. My work seems to make me take one every 6-8 weeks cause I end up going out of town and just take it then.

I came back this week feeling a lot stronger and refreshed after taking off 5 days last week.

Oh sure and I’ll even admit I’m going to start doing the scheduled 5/3/1 deloads again. I’m curious to see if it makees a difference now that I’m a little stronger.

At this point I think the only thing I’m comfortable saying for certain is that nothing works for everyone and everything works for somebody.

sorry joe - your post snuck in there while i was posting mine lol. i don’t know. i’ve never done a proper meet. just thinking about what some other people have posted about recovering after theirs. different people are different thats for sure

Have to agree for sure with that last part.

You know after dropping 5/3/1 for most of this year and working on my athletic ability, and now just concentrating on a couple of the big 4…my strength is going up in those 2.

I know it was always said that after you lose your Newbie gains, you just cannot increase all 4 with the same level. Again everyone is different and some may. But when my squat was going up and I was concentrating on it more my DL stayed the same.

Anyway, I have an opportunity to play for a local Rugby team that have asked for me to join. I think I want to do this, even though I have never played.
