Yeah, the curl habit is definitely one you want to get rid of. What are you thinking about when you pull? What cues are you using?
Do you film all of your sets? I would start doing that in lieu of having someone there to watch you. Pay attention to what you’re doing on the lighter sets. If your form isn’t solid on those then correcting that should help your heavier lifts.
Rick - Makes a lot of sense, actually when I flex my tris my arm automatically straighten out so its one less thing to think about, thanks man…
Kev - LOL, thanks man, dimels may be a great idea on my assistance day…those addidas are called vibetouch, flat yet comfortable I find them great for squatting. I never liked the one stars and sambas were too stiff for me.
MiM - Lol thanks I just hope the training gets stronger QUICK!
James - Yeah I am definitley gonna start taping all of my DLs even the lighter ones for critiquing. I believe I was so excited to possibly break a PR all cues flew out of my thick skull.
Matty, you 100% have the strength to do the 465. Guaranteed.
Go to the 3 minute mark of the Tate video that dday linked -see how Tate falls back on his deadlifts with the light weight? You’re not pulling back -when I watch your vid, the bar has actually moved forward by the time you stall. The mantra is to pull back until the bar clears the knees, then shoot the hips forward by humping the bar to lock out.
On your warmups with light weight, you should feel like you’re losing your balance backwards -that will tell you that you’re pulling back. Shoot, have a friend stand behind you, deadlift something right around your bodyweight, let go of the bar right below knee level, and “practice” falling back for real.
Got it PG , thanks man, I actually see it too, as I have been reviewing it, I actually may try this tomorrow with light weight just for the feel of falling back. This probably coincides with driving with your heels.
Bulldog, I guess you found the website where I purchased my singlet he he…
you could practice wearing your singlet under your regular gym clothes. that way you get used to how it feels without needing to worry about looking like a tool lol. how did you get a crotchless one lolz
I was going to rail on you for curling your dealift, but the masses have already beaten me to it.

IMO you’ve got the strength to get that weight.[/quote]
^This. You’ve got the power, for damned sure. If you’re going to un-learn how you deadlift, the time is really short. I’m of half a mind (all I have at the moment) to recommend you don’t mess with trying to grease a whole new groove this close to the meet. What do you think, big guy? In all honesty, is this the time to try and re-learn the movement? Maybe some of the real heavyweights will chime in here.
And by the way, I think the yarmulke is what was throwing you off.
I’m with the others, I think you def want to try that singlet out prior to the meet. Or you might get to the meet and be too too distracted by your nuts being all squshed up and miss a cue. Raight?
Anyways, I think Ink recommended Greg tryout the singlet under his gym clothes. Just sayin’
Btw is your meet on 12/3 in PA? I have a friend doing that one.
Nice DLing! I was rooting for you. Damn, that’s a lot of plates!
Alexus - Just called the APA President the crotchless singlet is not allowed…damn.
Kent - A total relearning of the DL would be unwise I agree however remembering a couple of cues such as flexing my tris and pulling back probably won’t hurt. I appreciate the proper spelling of the Yarmulke, Shalom!
Masch - My meet is 12/10 in Edison, NJ…surprisingly the singlet is rather slimming! LOL
Rob, Austin - Not only am I gonna wear the singlet, I’m not gonna wash it until after the meet!
I havent been able to shake this effing horrible cold since last week, havent trained since last Wed, still debating on whether to go today or give myself one more day. I feel extremely week and my chest is chock full of the funky stuff…

She has a point, depending on how close you are size wise you can get singlets that grind the boys up.
Also keep your arms straight on the DL and sit back. You are way over the bar it looks like.
LOL true that Joe…I actually wore it today nuts were pretty comfy lol…
Today SNOT ROCKETS and SQUATS
Damn I feel like utter garbage so I scaled the training down today. I felt awful and at times faint. so it went a lil something like this…
SQUAT 75% 1RM 255X8X3
SS
CHINS (WIDE, NEUTRAL, SUPINATED) 7X5 (35)
Done, not going to work tonight Im trying to rest up hopefully a real good night of sleep will help. Oh and I wore my singlet under my tshirt and shorts, and it felt reeeaaaal good!
Singlets are so weird. They fit like a second skin, I felt naked when I tried mine the first time. (Whoops, I bet you didn’t want that image in front of the crowd.)
Thanks guys I felt horrible all day today until about 5pm where I may be slowly creeping out of my sickness…not going to work today hopefully another full night of sleep will allow a for full session tomorrow…
