If You Had to Drink...

I only drink a few times a year. When I do drink, I avoid anything sweet or fru fru. I usually have bacardi and diet coke. I used to know the calories in that but I can’t remember anymore.

If you don’t drink often, you don’t need as much. I used to have a pretty high alcohol tolerance but now one or two drinks is really all I need.

Some of yall are way too strict.

I drink once a week, usually several whiskey/bourbons in diet coke or on the rocks. Sometimes a good beer or two.

The cals aren’t really much of a concern unless you are cutting for a contest, and as long as you just have a few drinks, theres very little harm.

If you know you will be drinking adjust your macro, cut carbs to match.

Perhaps its more of a concern for the hard dieting ladies, but 300-something cals isnt going to be noticeable to me.

Is it ideal ? No, is it significant ? Also No.

Also you can always take “something” that very much mimics the effects of alcohol when used in proper doses, and actually has a positive effect on sleep and GH response.

If you HAVE TO drink, go for vodka. Doesn’t take much and you won’t need to drink excess calories to do it. That being said, if you are someone who truly enjoys beer, theres nothing wrong with drinking it in moderation once and a while.

Unfortunately I don’t have much game without a drink or two to loosen me up lol…believe me I’ve had my nights where I stuck to diet cokes or waters, but I feel kinda awkward…I see where ur comin from and it may sound like an excuse to have a few, but if I’m not gna drink I’d rather skip the bar scene and stay home 1. Cuz of the awkwardness and 2. Because I have asshole friends (guys and girls) who make a huge deal about me not havin at least one. So yeah, if I’m not gna have a couple drinks I’d rather not go, which in my OP said I don’t wanna be like a hermit…I guess vodka and club would be the smartest choice that does the least damage to the diet?
V9,

Alcohol is a crutch if you need it to help you get laid or be social. If you continually go out and not drink, eventually you’ll become comfortable and you won’t need “liquid courage.” This is assuming you start go out decently regularly like 1-2 times a week.

Want an easy way to not feel awkward and get into a talkative mood quickly? Talk to the first group of girls you see as you walk into the bar without hesitation. And continue to talk to all the different groups of girls in the bar. You’ll be too busy talking to random hot chicks for your friends to lay the pressure on you of not having at least one drink and you’re game will naturally improve from practising it.

The above is from personal experience, I’ve decided to only drink on my birthday since I graduated from college. All of my closest friends are regular drinkers, so I use to get the same sort of pressure.

Why drink if you do not want to? It’s your fucking life, do what YOU want.

Most of you are to strict. Wow If you really need to loose some fat for a contst or a fight or something then ya I can see the no booze thing.

If you are just trying to look better so you can get more chicks well then your missing out! Have a few drinks take a girl home and burn those extra calories off on her. Simple, fun and efective lol

With that said I also go for vodka and water when I feel fat.

…white wine…

Do a Google search and you’ll find that it’s the alcohol drink preferred by most athletes.

dont go out.

white wine and vodka w/ diet tonic are up there as options in my book.

whats with you crazy bastards drinking vodka and water, that would taste like ass i need something to cover the taste of the vodka.

Your life would be easier if you became the alpha and stopped caring if your “friends” made fun of you for not drinking.

Right on the money. The old saying is “You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with.”

So if you are spending the most time with people who make fun of you for not having a drink, maybe its time to either step up like BONEZ said, or find new friends.

These people, do they look like you want to look? Do they achieve milestones in their training that you want to achieve?

People like to make fun of things that arent normal. Unfortunately, look at society today and what is considered normal. No thanks, Id rather do my own thing.
I think I will print this post out and put it up on my wall so I will see it everyday when I wake up…very motivating

GREAT idea… Just stay in every Friday & Saturday night and post on TN???

I hope this is sarcastic; Otherwise, some of you are truley missing out on life.

Fuck it, Just as Westlock said: Go ahead, have a few… Its not going to kill you or your physique.

temptation, people talking and looking at you weird because your not drinking. shit like that
makes me wanna fight. I don’t like explaining to every jerkoff my life style. Its tired and boring. dealing with the all annoying bros and skanks.

Really? Who cares whose looking at you weird, only a self-conscious, confidence deprived person would worry about that. You don’t need to explain yourself. If your having a blast, schmoozing with friends, and taking home dimes it doesn’t matter.

This highlights a much bigger problem among men, the fear of creating their own path. You should live the life that you enjoy the most, not the one that you think others will accept. Carve your own trail, don’t follow the ones that have been trampled by the copycats and wannabes.

missing out life? lol

If your idea of a good time is going to some guido club with people that most of the time are not really your friends, dance to music that makes me feel like dying of inanition, drink alcohol (which tastes bad), try to act like you are the man, then go eat at the fast food after, that’s great, but it’s not mine

Oh well, you travel to bars
You also go to winchell’s doughnuts
And hang out with the highway patrol
Sometimes you’ll go to a pizza place
You go to shakey’s to get that
American kind of pizza
That has the ugly, waxey, fake yellow
Kind of cheese on the top…
Maybe you’ll go to straw hat pizza,
To get all those artificial ingredients
That never belonged on a pizza in the first place
(but the white people really like it…)
Oh well, you’ll go anyplace, you’ll do anything

You go to santa monica boulevard,
You go to the blue parrot
No problem, you’ll go anyplace
You’ll do anything
Just so you can hang out with the others
The others…JUST LIKE YOU

Me and my good mates all lift so we are all in the same boat. This is good because being the only sober person is sometimes a little awkward, and we still have a heap of fun when all sober. When i drink it is vodka + soda water (the plain carbonated water - not sure if you guys call it the same in the states) and lime. Even after a pretty serious amount of that stuff, I drink a decent amount of water when i get home and usually wake up hangover free.

Conclusion, hang with people who share the same values as you, or values you aspire to.

I follow my own path, bodybuilding is my passion. thats one of the major reasons why I stopped going to clubs/bars. It sets me free. It makes me feel happy, confident, at peace. all the baggage from women, friends, family, work all fall away. they don’t mean anything any more. I have been near edge of the abyss. A little partying for me, can lead to bad things. that part of my life is over.

1.) Im from Chicago, not NJ. I think you watch too much TV

2.) Dont talk about music that makes you want to die of ‘inaniation,’ and then post what looks to be like some song lyrics, that go like that

3.) Since when does drinking alcohol mean you have to eat a bigmac and fries after? I had a few drinks, not a blunt.

I’ve gone through and am going through the same sorta situation as you. Couple points to add on to whats been said already, don’t stress about a couple drinks but don’t make it a habit while dieting and don’t pig out while the alchohol is still in your system. Since you filter out about 1 drink per hour thats how many hours it’ll take roughly before your body starts using the nutrients you feed it again.

People closest to you who see you succeeding sometimes are most likely to sabotage your success, strong resolve is important especially with friends. Good friends will understand your need to not get hammered on the regular.
There’s other ways to get out outside the bar, there’s plenty ways to get laid outside the bar. Confidence is something you need to find outside the bottle and it sounds like it could positively effect both your luck with the opposite sex and your relationships with your friends. If you do give in, guilt tripping yourself to no end isn’t gonna help anything just make up for it during the week don’t stress it’s really not a huge deal.

then go out, I dont care. it’s not that bad, it wont wreck your physique, blablablabla, go have a’‘good time’'. That’s what you wanted to hear I think.

I know about the show you think I watch but I dont watch it. I dont have it, I know it exist from this forum. Also it saddens me that you dont know what inanition means. I know what it means and english is not my first language.

About the song I think these lyrics are great. It’s refreshing to hear a message that goes against everything you hear normally in the mainstream. But you probably wouldnt like the music. It would pass way over your head but it’s alright.

Fixed.

I put inaniation in quotes because the context you use it in, doesnt make sense. Maybe you need to stick with ur first language smartass.

You are correct. Your taste in music is only for the highly educated 18yr old highschool student like yourself. Pizza, doughnuts, and Santa Monica Blvd. is way over my head.
