Hope your bum gets better!!
I remember my bum feeling that way for awhile, when in grade school a kid pulled a chair out from under me…gawd that hurt not to mention it was embarrassing!

Molly, I loved the deadlifting-on-the-beach pic. Awesome!
I hope you don’t give the phrase “busted my ass” a new meaning. Hopefully its just a little bit bruised and you’ll be back to normal very soon.
Hey MMG! haven’t been around in a while, but just thought I’d drop in a see how you are doing. I haven’t caught up on your whole thread, but Muscle Beach looks like it was a blast! Sorry about your bumm!
Sounds like an amazing trip, Molly!

Assuming this is in Pasadena, I think I know the trail you’re talking about. I’ve trail-ran up it before… which was brutality, let me tell you!

Drive to Santa Barbara for Wine tasting
Wasn’t gonna Wine Taste cuz I don’t normally drink… but my friends got annoying so I had to drink to put up with them (seriously… second time I have had more than 1 drink in almost 5 years!)
Lots and lots and lots of wine (pics to follow)

Drunk Pullups and Squats at Crossfit Santa Barbara =D[/quote]
Wine tasting in SB is the best! And the pullups and squats at the Crossfit sound totally badass. I’m so glad you had a great time!
But, I’m sorry to hear about your pain-in-the-ass! I hope nothing is broken ![]()
CBear - you are hired! I will let you know what Sax says the going rate is right now! ;D P.S. When are we gonna hang out? I need to gives you your dress back anyway!
Cal - I hope so too! I didn’t sit much at all for the first day or wo after it happens… lots of standing and laying on my belly or my side… It’s starting to feel better… but I can’t get to the Dr until tomorrow… and I am scared to try anything too intense before then…
Betty - yeah it’s no fun! And it really hurts when my butt moves (because the surrounding tissue is really bruised, so when my butt moves it “pulls” on the bruised part… ) So having a large ass is NOT helping! It hits stuff, get caught on stuff, and bumps into stuff all the time. Plus my boyfriend is so used to smacking it when he walks by… he has gotten in trouble a lot this week for that!
And that grade school kid should see you now! You could kick his ass!
Kimba - isn’t it fun? I loved it too! I knew I had to get a pic of it or I would regret it! It’s so awesome to lift where so many famous lifters have worked out! I hope I can be back to normal soon too! My energy has been good lately and I want to take advantage of it!
Mynxie - hi love! How are YOU!?!? Glad to see you back 'round these parts! What’s new with you? You been keeping up with the lifting and such? =D
So I worked out Today again… mostly helped my friend Sarah Beth who was named Miss Kentucky Basketball and who will be kicking ass at UK next year! She has her lifting program and while she has a good base… she can definitely benefit from some coaching! She is going to be awesome as long as she stays healthy!
I did manage to do some rows, pushups, face pulls, and anterior loaded step-ups along with some stretching and rolling… I wanted to drag the sled more but I had to go watch my nephew for my sis.
I have my X-ray for my bum tomorrow and I will keep you updated!
Hey Molly, Great pic! Looks like you had an awesome trip.
Sucks about your bum woes, but glad you’re getting it looked at. Def let us know how that goes.
HAH! I like how you accidentally made 2 massage apts. Good idea to give one to the bf - you’d be jello if you ended up w/ 3 hours of massage.
molls, put it on my tab.
im waiting to see the xray of ur bootay. you’re GONNA post it, right?
Your trip sounds like it was such a blast (yay for drunk shenanigans and deadlifting in a jean skirt), and yeah, great pics of gorgeous ladies (your ‘funny face’ included)!
Hope your bum feels better soon, and I’m crossing my fingers that the x-ray doesn’t find any serious damage.
Also, I still find it crazy that your deadlift numbers are so big when your glutes weren’t properly firing, and with ‘weak’ hips - I can’t wait to see how much stronger you get thanks to all the corrective exercises MR has you doing. ![]()
So… it’s official… my tailbone is CRACKED! :::insert sad face here:::
Luckily, the Doc said my muscles were strong enough to keep everything in alignment, so everything should heal just fine on it’s own. BUT… it will take 6-12 weeks to heal. He said I can do everything in the gym that doesn’t cause pain, including squatting/loading my spine… but I think I will hold off on that for a while. He also said to “avoid vibration” during this healing period as well. <insert dirty jokes/puns/etc here>
SO… this sucks! I was hoping to start adding sprints/plyos to my regimen soon… but I guess those will have to wait! I emailed MR and asked him what to do… He was a bit at a loss… but obviously said to avoid anything that causes pain, and he gave me some alternate exercises to do in the meantime. The worst part is, my whole program was centered on glute activation/strength and core work… and of course, that HAS to be what is injured. GRRRR! I know it could be a lot worse… but I am still super frustrated!
On a positive note, work has been going AWESOME! AND… we had friends over for the UFC fight last night. I was a little disappointed as I wanted RAMPAGE to win… but oh well! I am definitely enjoying my long weekend and look forward to having tomorrow off to workout, grill out, and spend time with the beau.
Masch - you are right… but it would have been such a NICE jell-o feeling! ;D And actually one of the therapists had to cancel on my BF… so I am glad I had the other on scheduled or I woulda missed out! And I REALLY needed one! She did a decent amount of craniosacral work on me because of my tailbone… she said that there was trauma all up and down my spine and everything “tightened up” when I fell… she didn’t do too much work on it though… she wants to wait until our next massage to really get in there! (which is in 2 weeks =D)
Bear - dude… your tab is HYOOOOOOGE by now! =D And I don’t have the pic of my X-ray… the dirty ole doctor kept it! Plus, it was hard for me to see the crack he was talking about… I would’ve thought it was more obvious… but I guess it takes a very trained eye to see it. Plus it’s only bones and yucky stuff… None of the good stuff! =-/
RBlue - yes it was amazing! You are so right… shenanigans with girlfriends are about as good as it gets!
And dude… I have no idea how my DL numbers are that big with no glutes/hips/hammies EITHER! I guess it’s a bulletproof lower back… which WOULD be a good thing if I had bulletproof abs/obliques to go with it (which is DO NOT!) So once I do, I am thinking I will be in good shape! MR said my strength should SHOOT up… so I am clinging to that hope! =D
Duuuuude, that SUCKS ass!! (hardy har)
Glad it wasn’t anything more than that…hope it heals properly.
Thanks Betty! Me too! =D It’s hard to reign it in because I was just starting to get lots of energy and motivation to hit it HARD! But… I guess I can just be thankful that my fatigue has lessened! =D
Went ahead and got my workout in this morning… Obviously most stuff is modified… but it was still a good workout.
Monday
Foam roll (quads, IT band, low back, etc)
Warm-up (side lying leg raise, wall slides, etc)
Acute/Activation Exercises (clams - 3 positions)
Hip Flexor Stretches
2 Pt. DB Row (abs tight, focus on not twisting my upper body, slow eccentric)
Anterior Loaded Step-up (abs tight, avoid knee cave, push through the heel, use quad and glute to drive knee out)
Single Leg RDL (abs tight, hinge @ hip, drive knee out, chest up, shoulders back)
Pushups (abs tight, CHEST OUT, shoulders down, scapula retract and protract)
Drag the Sled
Continuous drag for 10 min w 45 lb plate
All in all, good workout! May go on a walk later as I have a lot of energy! =D
cool!
I’ve been walking in the evenings too…love it.
Is it hot down yonder? ![]()
A BROKEN ASS BONE! That really sounds painful.
No buttsex for a while eh? Now that, my friend, is the horrible part.
Be careful. Hope it heals soon
_Mel
Betty - yes ma’am! It’s supposed to be 92 and sunny on Wednesday! YIKES! Today is pleasant though… 81 and sunny skies with a few puffy clouds… it’s lovely! But yeah, it’s usually 75-90 this time of year with some rain… but not a ton. It’s SUPER HUMID in KY though… like muggy! =-/
Mel! What’s up homie??? Yeah… I cracked by ass bone… I was telling someone that in the gym the other day and they were like, “umm… tell your boyfriend he’s doing it wrong…” hahahaha… I think that would have been a MUCH more fun way to crack it than slipping and falling!
I hope it heals soon too! It blows cuz it’s sinking in that it’s an INJURY… it’s not just sore, or tender, or nagging… it’s an INJURY and has to be treated like one. It’s so annoying… I have gone 6 years lifting heavy without a true injury (save some minor rotator cuff irritation in the beginning of my lifting career) and then I go and fall and F*** everything up! RAWR! OK… enough ranting… I still wanna beat you to 405! ;D
sucks that it happened while you had all this energy MM… A good long walk should help you get rid of the excess… heal soon and don’t kick any asses for a while.
Injuries really, really blow. However, you are working around this one like a champion and that’s the best you can do.
Knee cave on step-ups is something I fight too. Grrr.
