Kimba - thanks! I loved it too! He drives me crazy! I tried to get him on camera one day quarter squatting 223 and then 315 and 365… but I think he knew what I was doing b/c he would always stop when I got near him!

Masch - Isn’t it great? And to clarify… 135 is definitely NOT my first warm up set… I usually do the bar, then 95, then 135… but that day I just had to hop right in and use 135… Plus I was pretty warmed up from all my foam rolling and mobility! =D

It sounds like you’re seeing some positive results from MR’s program - glad to hear it!

And I’m still laughing about that douche squat story. Saw a guy at the gym tonight doing just that (quarter squats with 135); it made me cringe.

Tabata BW squats ARE killer… I should add those in again, too.

Hey Blue! Yeah… I am liking the results… I just want them to be translated into keeping me healthy and helping me lift heavier sh*t! =D Yeah… any TABATA kicks my butt, but BW squats leave me sore for days!

Worked out Monday and had a good session… kinda rushed… but good!

I am working even more than usual this week and I have a wedding on Saturday which should be a good time! Then Sunday is Mother’s Day dinner at my Mom’s house with my family, and Monday I go see Mike Robertson in Indy for a follow up session! YAY! Then I have less than a week until I fly to LA to spend 5 days with my 3 best friends… I can’t wait!

As for training tonight… things went well… My squat technique seems to be improving a bit… but pushups are getting the best of me… I am having a hard time keeping my chest “out” without letting my hips sag… argh! Hopefully MR will have some good advice! I also didn’t have time to do my KB swings, so I did another TABATA session. I alternated KB swings and BW Squats… looked like this: (using a 40 lb DB)

12 swings/16 BW squats/12 swings/15 BW squats/12 swings/14 BW squats/12 swings/14 BW squats

(resting 10 sec between exercises of course)

I am going to be STIFF tomorrow! BUT… I have a 90 min massage in the morning… yay!

CLIFF NOTES:

Also, I was this close to doing the RPF free trial but got skerred when they asked for the card info. I know I’ll forget to untrial myself and thus be a member of RPF forever (which I suppose wouldn’t be all that bad!). Swings and BW squats, Tabata style. I’ll will totally steal that.

It is now warm enough for me to lay out on my back deck. I’ve worked up to 20 minutes and I am finally not fish-belly-white anymore. Yay! Also, I had my Vit D levels checked and they were high. So my doc told me to lay off the supplements, which is fine now that I am getting some natural vitamin D exposure.

What are you up to in LA (aka my neck of the woods)?

I, too, will be stealing the TABATA swings/squats!

Masch - yeah, the swings and squats are brutal… but it’s nice b/c it mixes it up so instead of being debilitating-ly sore in one place (i.e. quads) I was just “pretty sore” everywhere! =D Yeah, I knew some people would be skeptical… but it’s SUPER EASY to cancel… it’s literally one step… so don’t be afraid! ;D

Chimera - My BFFFFFFFF lives there! We have been best friends for around 12 years and we have lived apart for 9 of those 12 years … =-(

So myself and two of our other best friends are all flying out there together next weekend and staying for 5 days! We are thinking about making it an annual girls trip! Two of us live here and one in Denver and the other in LA… but we literally are like sisters.

We don’t have to talk every day, but when we see each other it’s like we haven’t missed a beat! We know each others deepest and darkest secrets and we can tell each other anything… I am beyond elated about the trip! I can’t wait!

Unfortunately, there is so much I want to do while I am there… and so little time! I have other family and friends there and I prob won’t even get to see them! geez I gotta get out there more often! =D
Where exactly in LA are you? (You can PM me if you want…) she is in Pasadena and goes to Fuller…

I’m also liking the sound of that swing/squat tabata! May give that a try as a finisher today.

Awwwww, that sounds like SO much fun! Meeting up with good friends you haven’t seen in a while is the best thing ever. Definitely make sure to update about the trip!

I actually live and work in Pasadena! It’s a cute town, but I’ve actually lived here for just about my whole life so I’m planning to move (possibly up to Northern California) in a few months. Good times, though! I assume you’ve been out here before?

Chimera - CRAZY that you live in Pasadena! She just moved there recent;y from Santa Monica since it was closer to school (Fuller)… and yes ma’am! Been there several times! LOVE me some California! =D I have been to San Diego, San Francisco and all over LA… I am a huge fan!

So I spent 3 hours with Mike Robertson yesterday (my friend Sarah was there too)! It was amazing! Pretty much EVERYTHING I was doing needed to be tweaked a little bit… and OF COURSE all the tweaking made everything so much harder! And honestly… my glutes have never been so sore in my life!

It was so super helpful to have my workout partner there with me b/c Mike was showing both of us exactly what to look for in each other to make sure that we are doing every movement correctly… he was also giving us cues to give each other to help us correct ourselves mid-movement. I think we are going to make it a point to go up there every 2 months and get critiqued and re-assessed!

I just never realized how conscious I am supposed to be of every movement… and how the teeniest changes completely change the effectiveness of the exercise… it’s crazy!

So anyway… had a great workout… had fun catching up and chatting with my friend in the car for 3 hours each way and I can’t wait to go back to see him again soon!
