I Lift, I Lower...I Lift Again

I just hear Charlie Brown’s teacher noises at that point.

Quite update…can’t believe it’s been over a year since I last posted lol. Been work 50-60hrs a week, so I’ve been training 2-3 times per week in effort and machine based style.

The gym am in has second gen Nautilus, Prime and heavy duty mega mass machines…the later being some of the best equipment I’ve ever used.

Thank u, hope your keeping well and still crushing it:)

Thanks D, yes the gym at at is the only with these machines in the UK. Ultra smooth and built like tanks. Apparently made by one man in the US.

Eh up peps, hope everyone’s doing good…

Got bogged down with work for a few months. Back to normal now….

Mostly been training at home for handinessAs nice as mega mass, prime and older nautilus machines are, nothing hits like the basic free weight and bodyweight stuff. Got myself a nice ATX adjustable dipping unit and a commercial grade 45degree hyper bench for Christmas, so been making good use of those. I’ll get back to regular posting soon.

I would run naked through town to find a gym with the vintage Nautilus machines.

Do I have to prove that the machine is there before you run naked? If not, I know a gym with vintage Nautilus machines. Please post a video of your run to access the name of the gym.

No, no one wants to witness that unfortunate scene. :joy:

Lol. Worth a shot. :winking_face_with_tongue:

:laughing::laughing::laughing: love it….

I’m in Northern Ireland and for over 30 years I’ve wanted to try out the older Nautilus stuff, and tbh…I’d give them 3 outta 5 stars, their nice but they’ve quite a few draw backs. Plus some medx machines id say are the worst machines I’ve ever used.

Such as this seated leg curl, it has one adjustment point, getting into position is a pain, then it feels like it’s gonna snap your tibia’s.

This Nautilus leg extension isn’t great neither. One adjustment point, crap rom, hence why the gym owner has added the pad.

And this diverging seated row is the worst row I’ve ever use….feels terrible and the full 150kg stack feels lighter than some of the other chest supported rows with a 100kg stack…

There’s some chain driven second gen machines too, such as this overhead press, literally no one in the gym uses it, it’s so bad…handles need to be a several inches longer.

The better ones are the super pullover and triceps extension.

Like I say, their nice, but not great.

We have that leg ext machine in my gym and I agree it isn’t the best. It gives very little resistance an the bottom (fully stretched) part of the movement and really only focuses on the peak contraction. Its good for looking at your quads when their flexed though. LOL

Hey mate, it’s funny how Jones would go on it say (after making tens of millions on Nautilus machines) an individual could get pretty close to their potential with just chins, dips, one legged squats and calf raises lol. Given from what we’re seeing with this streetlifting weighted calisthenics wave I’d say he was right on the money.

22/1/26 (BW 120kg)

  • Weighted dips (BW+20kg × 8, BW+40kg, then 1 set of negative only to 1RIR)
  • Deadstart leg presses (320kg × 8+ 2 after a 5 sec RP)

20/1/26 (home gym)

  • Neurtal grip chins (BW + light band assistance × 4 sets of 8,7,6,6)
  • SLDLs (170kg × 8)

@Friedrich got me thinking about consolidation training again on the minimalist training log, only instead of training once per week and to fail on every set, I’ll train every other day and cycle intensity. Might salt in the odd set of laterals, curl or calf presses.
