So Joe. Regarding the DL. That’s a weird spot to fail on a sumo pull. Usually it’s off the floor. And it seemed to come off the floor pretty fast and just stall. So I have to cast my vote with Strick and say that the rounded back did not allow hip thrusting and, thus lockout, to occur.
On the advice to start lower . . . good luck on that one. I can’t seem to do it myself, but DL is still my best lift even with a high hip start.
I’ve never failed at that spot before either. I’m guessing that with the back as rounded as it was I couldn’t get any hip thrust at all or get my shoulders back.
I’m pretty sure the form on my other pulls was better but I need to not let it get that rounded. I’m also strangely sure that I cna pull a lot more than the 375 I failed on.
This might sound stupid but if I get my hips too low I feel all out of position.
Feeling good going into a training is NO indication at all as to how that training will go. I’ve had some of my best days when I felt lousy going in. Go figure.
The attemopt at 280 was high and i know exactly why. I was so focused on all of the cues that it stopped being one lift and started being about 12 little tiny lifts in a row. I think its time to hammer the abs to help with fold over.
The pithiest, bestest, tip I ever stumbled across wrt Sumo (I think it was a Tate comment) is to (paraphrasing for effect) “try to plop your nuts on top of the bar”. “Adjustment” optional, of course.

I’ve never tried Zerchers before. Mainly because they look so bloody uncomfortable.
What reason are you doing them? and where did you feel them most?
I’m doing them as squat assistance because they force be to really drive my hips out of the hole. I feel them most in my ass, abductors, and my abs. I’m really starting to like them.

This was funny! I can only imagine what spear drills are…
Spear drills can be either:
Trying to hit a moving target or
Trying to hit a stationary target while I’m moving.
In this case it was #2, a spear is 9 feet long with a padded tip so the far end is heavier than the held end. So it can be hard to be accurate and be under control enough that you don’t break someones neck.
Felt strong but getting the dip belt right took forever and I was half way tired before I started. Adding the little weights at the end are a disproportionate pain in the ass.
I just love watching you dip. When I put the dinky little 10 pounder on the dip belt, I can’t help but think to myself “pussy”. This week I’ll put on a bigger plate to be more like Joe.

Joe to get more weight faster and easier you may want to consider a weight vest…I have never used one but it might help streamline your dip setup
OG, I"ve considered it but I haven’t been able to find one that is over 70lbs and I need to be able to go between 120-160lbs. I’ll keep looking.
