OOOH! I love listening to the music in the background of the competition vids. I remember there was someone, maybe snap or PMPM, that had the most hilarious music playing. Its cool that they ask you what you want to listen to! I’d be so embarrassed if I had to play the music I listen too. HAHA!
And yeah, i’d say you def caught the competition bug. Awesome!
Nice pulling and pressing, sir. Working with any DBs over 50lbs blows my mind!
Thanks, right now my goal is to get strong enough so that I look like a belong at the meets. I got called “gangly” at the first one.
More boiled peanuts and grits will fix that. You ain’t gangly. Well, maybe compared to Meat and Pete, but they don’t count.

I’m not even sure what “gangly” as applied to you even means.
I think it was a polite way of saying small.
Well, in something like an SPF meet you are going to have some thicker lifters, that’s for sure. I went out to eat with some training partners the other day, all 308s and superheavies. First time in my adult life I was the smallest dude at the table.

3x175
3x200
7x225(+1 rep PR sadly)
1x255
1x280* wardrobe malfunction caused me to chop this high video, of chop not malfunction, to follow.
Holdx315* 15 seconds
3x200
3x175
Zercher Squats
8x140
8x160
6x170 (+5lbs PR)
Had a slight issue which busted up concentration and I chopped the lift off on 280. Still felt lighter than 280 has ever felt.
If I remember correclty 280 is 25# better then what you did at your meet 2 weeks ago…Thats great progress Joe. and Gangly…thats a fucked up thing to say.

I guess kmc gave me a clue as to the variety of the malfunction. Still, that is alot of weight and next time you’ll get it to depth.
So calling a guy “small” or some variety of that is roughly as hurtful as calling a girl “big”? Interesting.
Oh, yes. Guys - at least athletic ones - hate being small. I know I always have. It feels weak, submissive, impotent. We want to look muscular, strong, commanding. Calling a guy gangly, skinny, or scrawny is a outright label of “weak”. Whereas calling a girl big implies she’s fat and unsexy. Yeah, yeah, a lot of guys are big/fat and not athletic, but it doesn’t always bother them… maybe they enjoy being big anyway they can. Or maybe they just love their beer and pizza.
And don’t get a guy started on height. Some guys really go beserk on being shorter than others. Not that they would dare show it…

Well honestly I think all guys just want to be called hot, or something dirty.
