Cardio: 5k run
First mile was just over 7 minute mile pace and then I ramped pretty badly for some reason. Thumped along at a much lower speed but got the 5k in.

So I decided to try my meet lifts after deloading. My gym was so busy I had to set and reset my camera several times, got pissed off and then didn’t pause enough on the lifts. You’ll see.

Nice run. I only dream about a pace much under a 10 minute mile.
All those bench presses looked quite easy for you. Are you sure you’ve set your meet lifts high enough?

I think perhaps not. However, I noticed you lifted your head a bit on the 245. Depending on your fed, that is cause for a red light. You do need to hold the pause longer. Try lowering the bar a bit slower to allow you to stay tight for the press.
I know, I know. It makes no sense that someone who benches the numbers I do should be giving advice.
yep - 205 should be your last warm-up rep and 225 your opener. The pauses were just a hair short for USAPL. Take snappers advice on slowing the descent, engage your lats and “row” the bar down.

I’ll have to watch the head, I’ve never noticed that before.

I might not be, I’m just guessing here.

I’ll be trying that next week after my money sets.

You squat narrow. Real good lifts going on. 245 was easy, if a little quick. Guy squating in the 1/17 vid is asking for a screwed up back.
That squat looked plenty deep, Joe.
For your first meet, don’t worry too much about the numbers. Think of it more as an experience.
When is your meet again?

If you watch previous videos you will notice you lift your head alot. I have mentioned that to you before…

I’m trying to slowly widen my foot placement, very slowly.

Its Feb 12.
I’m trying to think of it as practice for future meets.
That 205 was good depth and pace. do it like that on Feb 12 and you put up a total, which should be your one and only goal for the meet. Ask Julie (or hell, any lifter with more experience than me), it’s not always easy to put up a total.
JG- that was a fine squat. Looks like you could put up a bit more.

So walking around in the singlet was the hardest part of today. I mean really its hard to imainge how big of a tard you look like in one until you see it.
255 was ugly but I think it would have been less so if I hadn’t squatted yesterday as well.
My apologies for the eyes you are about to lose.

Not sure why so self conscious about the singlet. I think you look pretty.

Nice work Joe! the 255 may have been a touch high by USAPL standards but the others were good.
Just strut you stuff in the singlet and ignore everybody - You won’t be alone at the meet anyway.
I’m not sure the red-on-red works for me though…

That was the word I was going to use ![]()
Do you still think it is too big or did the wash and dry help that? How tight is it supposed to be? It certainly doesn’t look to big… esp. when you walk toward the camera… ;p
It is spandex after all…
