I Have Nothing to Declare but My Genius

At first I thought the guy losing his pants was my reward - I was about to flame ya

Are you growing an epic beard? I heard they worked wonders on squats…

And thank you for indulging the Frenchie - you could always tell me to go play in traffic some day.

Be kind to the stupid people… after all they make us all feel much better about ourselves.

I don’t know how I feel when I see things like this.

On the one hand I think “bless him, at least he’s gotten off his arse and joined a gym and is giving it a go” but I also think that he is probably your average T-Nation poster, he probably has the username Deepsquatting Hulk326, has a pic of Kirk Karwoski as his avatar, claims a 550lb squat and is one of the people responsible for making us all feel crap about our lesser “genuine” lifts. This is exactly why I never give a claimed squat any credibility whatsoever until I’ve seen it.

Oh and great dipping Joe. Your deload dips are better than most peoples PRs.

EDIT - And should you be hitting PRs in a deload week? isn’t that missing the point?

I let some of my facial hair grow because Mrs. Joe Good likes it. I think it looks stupid and I’ve let it get too long as its only supposed to be scruff. I can’t really grow a real beard.

Nah the vids things is fun

“squatting doesn’t hurt. What you are doing hurts”

So I did a google search and was going to post an epic beard pic.

And then this other Beard appeared in the search and I thought it was way better.

Well yeah my deloads are a bit different, I don’t deload accessory lifts because when I do the weight on everything feels uber heavy the next week. So I just deload the main lift, and work the others like normal.

Oh I would have never mocked him if he hadn’t made me wait 15 minutes to do my close grip bench because he was doing ab crunches on the bench.

Good man.

Nice dipping. I quite like the scruff.

Don’t worry, the tight running pants are forthcoming although I wouldn’t be able to wear them outside till the spring. I’m considering these:

I’m sure you won’t mind looking at them.

Bench, squats and dips all looking strong Joe. Bald head + facial hair = sexy. That’s what I keep telling myself.

Oh I sure won’t.

When I ran a lot I considered getting the Nike running pants for running in winter but I couldn’t figure out how to keep teh boy parts from sticking out so I never did.

You certainly can’t tell but I have Erik the Viking red colored scruff. Yep, I’m a ginger.

I see people doing stuff like in that squat vid all the time. ALL THE TIME. It saddens me, in a way. I mean it’s great that they’re not sitting on their asses, but if you’re going to make the effort, it makes so much more sense to do something right.

Just today a father and two sons were “squatting” next to me. They were in a smith. The father was just giving them terribly wrong advice. Terribly wrong. Stuff that could cause injury. I was getting agitated by it. I almost said “do you want me to show you how to squat?” But I thought that would be viewed as very insulting.

I’m never quite sure what to do in these situations. Other than just ignore them. Not sure why I get so bothered.

Deads

8x135 singles toe up trying top pull back.

5x145

5x185 singles trying to get an arch

It seems I am freaking incapable of arching my back as I start a DL. Perhaps I am some sort of mutant…

Can you get any arch doing cat/cow stretch/pose? Just curious.

If you have access to a foam roller, you can do thoracic mobility by putting the roller under your upper back and going for the arch.

Saw it in a Cressey article but I can’t remember which one. It might actually be an upper back issue rather than low back.

Keep working on it. Form issues can be a cold little bitch.

I had to look it up. I think I can but its kind of hard to tell.
