I hate Squats Club

Nice work, OG, and those are some great looking dogs as well.

My big boy is about 90 lbs., big for a Boxer, but he was the runt of a litter of 16. When I saw that both his mamma and pappa were over 100 lbs., I said “give me the dog with the smallest paws.” I almost walked away, but I am glad I didn’t, he has been a great dog.

My petite fluer, on the other hand, is only 41 lbs., very small for a Boxer. But she’s very nimble, swims, and fetches and returns balls and sticks, even from water–very rare for a Boxer. Most Boxers will usually only chase balls and sticks, but not return them, and most don’t like to swim.

Nice work, OG. “Whip Snatches” sound painful…

If you can do OH squats with any weight you’re doing better then I am. I’ve gotten to stiff to do them.

Jack- My dogs are sisters (half Bernese Mountain Dog and half Shiloh Sheppard). Both their parents were over 100…We also took the runt and are hoping she doesnt get past 80lbs…they are devils though…one of them learned how to open the back door by jumping up on the glass and sliding down onto the handle and wallah open sesame!! Jail break!

Strick- I got the whip snatches and overhead squats from stuff I read from Dan John…and you are right they are tough and very humbling how little weight I can use…Here is how I figure it…no one else in my gym does them…so they must work!

Eco- Thanks brother, but not really sure if a couple of dimes and nickels qualifies as weight…but i do get the stiffness thing…like right now!!! Lordy , lordy 50 is definitely not the new 25!

For being old and scrawny, you sure do lift a lot of weight  Nice job.

Good lifting. Amazed at how many people Dan John’s influenced with his training. Proves you don’t have to get fancy, just hit the fundamentals to get strong.

Harry, thanks…I enjoy the musings of Dan John…simple no nonsense approach to life and lifting!

CGB
4x165, 4x185, 8x205

Paused CGB 3x5x185, 1x4x185

Chins during the session

6,6,6,6,6,5,5,5,5,4,3- really liking hammering these a few times a week…going to try sets of 7 reps next week and see where we go…

Floor Press

3x5x225, 1x3x230

I needed to do DB rows but I was spent so I called it…

Earlier this AM ( around 6ish) took the dogs to a field and I let them off the leash and then they and I simultaneously spotted four doe about 120 yrds off…needless to say my sprint work needs work…I went about 20 yrds winding up my motor they were full tilt 80 yards away…bounding into the woods after the deer…I said screw it, sat down on a bench and whistled for them and had my coffee…about 20 minutes later my dogs emerged from the woods…tired and happy!!

Have a great weekend all,

Peace

what good puppies to come back at all!

nice pressing too!

Ah yes, the straight and simple words of Dan John. I love reading his stuff. I get a lot of my training phlilosphy form him.

SD- thanks for stopping by and no one was more surprised ( relieved) when they appeared…I was dreading facing Mrs Goat!

UN- Dan is great…straight shooter!

Squat Day (oh joy) Box 12 inch
6x145, 4x165, 5x185 could have done at least 2 more but was more interested in moving on to 1/4s

1/4 Squats ( about 7-8 inch range)
275x10, 295x10, 315x10, 335x5 sad but true that’s the heaviest thing I have ever put on my back other than my mortgage. Next cycle going to drop down another inch or so until I hit 335/5 at that depth and then lower we shall go.

RDL’s
2x10x135, 2x10x155…nice stretch…

Overhead squats
2x10x75 slowly starting to make headway, going to keep these in the rotation next cycle.

Peace

Your going to make me wanna do OH squats. Are you doing them in a power rack?

Nice work, OG. Your core must be turning to steel!

Good looking work all around, nice job.

Thanks for the fly over guys! much appreciated.

JW- I do them outside the rack, if the weight ever gets away from me I want to be able to get away from it. So I just snatch the weight up overhead and go…I am trying to do twice a week to hammer away at them… A bodyweight overhead squat seems light years away, but something to shoot for.

Strick- Slowly, ever so slowly but its getting better thanks!

Joe- Thanks brother…

MP Day

6x95, 4x115, 9x140

I believe I have 2 more reps in me, but I was tired and not that stable in the lower body and my back was really tight and I didn’t want to risk something going wrong over a rep or two. My hips and legs are reeling from yesterdays squat session. Nonetheless its moving back in the right direction.

3x3x150, 1x5x135

these sets and the 140 set I hold the bar over head for 20 seconds on the last rep…trying to help my overall core strength so I can up the overhead squat number. I figure if I cant hold the weight steady overhead while standing I will never be able to do it squatting.

Chins
5,5,5,7,7,6,5,4 not as many reps as early in the week but decent quantity and good pop through the 1st 5 sets.

Dips (BW)
20, 15, 15, 10, 8 nice burn!

Peace

Looking good, OG. Chins and dips…good stuff.

Thanks Strick…

Light Cond/core day

15 min hamster wheel
30 min foam and mobility
20 min palloff press, planks, side brideges
3x10 overhead squats bar only just stretching things
15 bike

Just trying to keep the flies off the old goat!

Have a great weekend,

Peace

Rack Pulls (from the knee)

6x275, 4x315, 5x335, 3x365, 1x405

whip snatch

1x8x85, 1x7x95, 1x5x95… the 95 is most I’ve done but it would odd to post something under 100lbs as a PR…so we will just say it was a good whip!

pullthroughs

1x12x150, 1x10x170, 1x7x200

done, have to head down to fairfield ct to bring my son on college recruiting visit…3 hours down, an hour and half there and 3 hours back…man I hope he makes his mind up soon.

beautiful day here, bummin’ hat I cant take the bike out…but kids first me last…

peace

Good work in here, OG.

Picking a college is exciting. I bet you are enjoying every minute of the recruiting trips.

Nice work. Good looking floor presses and dips.

And steak is a universal. I think it fits into all top 10 lists. Well, except vegan. Since they, themselves, are only a half step above food, we won’t worry about that list. Mmmmm…grass fed vegan.
Too lean. That would make them tough to chew.
Hmmmm…sounds like a perfect excuse to beat the hell out of them, before killing and eating them…tenderizing.
I’ll bring the ‘meat hammer’!!!
