Thanks Jack and JW… the gator is being marinated in a cajun style sauce…might cause spontaneous combustion…luckily the cooler is full!
125x3, 145x3, 165x7 nice and deep, felt good. 185x2 ( just to see)
Hammer Plate Loaded squats
4x8x6plates side
Bulgarian Split Squats
4x8x35’s going to stay at this weight for the remainder of this cycle and try to get more reps and than move the weight up 5lbs…
I am liking that I flipped flopped my squat day with Deads. I like Deads so doing them at the end of the week when I am typically gassed and a little banged up is not a problem. Having squats earlier in the week when I am fresher just feels better.

I kinda like the sound of that as well. Will be watching to see how it works out.
Nice lifting OG.
How long do you stay on 5/3/1 before switching to a different routine for awhile?
I have made great progress using 531 but the gains are starting to taper a bit- maybe because I have been doing this since September? Is one month a cycle? I am thinking about doing some higher rep work for a month or so and then come back to this.
JW, Strick and OP - Thanks! its coming, slowly, but its coming along…
Husker, thanks for dropping in! yes a cycle is a 4 week period, 3weeks of work 1 week of deload ( LS’s favorite part I might add). I have been doing it since Sept as well. I have no plans to change it at the moment. I have changed some of my primary exercises like back squats to Zerchers and flat bench to CGBP ( to save shoulder wear and tare) but other than that I am still making slow progress. if you have stalled, which it sounds like you haven’t you can reset your training maxes and attack again. If you want higher volume stuff, are you doing Boring but Big, What kind of gains have you had? I’m nearly 50 so all gains are good!
Of course it all really depends on your goals and how much time you can devote to them.
If you want real answers, you should go to Elite FTS and they have a QandA section and you can submit a question to Wendler himself. he answers everything! Or stop by PeteS or Meats thread. They truly know what the heck they are doing and are helpful to people who ask them questions. Really open and positive and lift jaw dropping weights so they would be a much better source than I.
CGBP (2 fingers on smooth)
3x160, 3x180, 9x205 and went AWOL for 4x225 ( PR+1rep)
Felt strong today, did the first 3 reps at 205 paused. Going to pound CGBPs for a few cycles before switching back to normal grip and an assualt at 3 bills.
DB rows
4x8x90
these were heavy as hell today…I think my back is still tired from the snatch grip deads back on Sat…
Floor Press (close grip) legs straight out
3x10x165
Seated Cable row ( overhand wide grip) find these really hard to hold for a second with the bar against my belly…more weakness exposed.
Thanks JW, ECO, KM and Jack…the positive support is greatly appreciated! 300 will fall before I turn 50! I actually would like 275 CGB even more.
Cycle 6 week 2 Dead Day
Rack Pulls ( 2 inch below knee)
245x3, 280x3, 315x10
Snatch Grip speed deads
3x10x165, 1x10x175 the goat is now officially tired, gasping and crouching near the floor ( less impact when I blackout).
GM’s
3x8x115, 1x6x125, 1x5x135
Fat Bar Curls for Mrs Goat
3x10x80
Quick Goat story: 18 months ago my father had quad bypass surgery, did rehab at the hospital and then moved onto a commercial gym…Called me yesterday ( he never calls) to complain that he stuck shoulder pressing 60 x7 on machine but cant do 70 or get an 8th rep…so I told him to grab a 5 lb plate and hang it on the pin…Man, what jubilation it was I solved a quantum mechanics equation for him! Then he says ya know what? “I did seated rows with 110 x8”…The man is 86 freakin years old…funny how parents become the kids again!
Great lifting and an even better story about your dad. Mine has some blockages the Docs are treating with meds. While mine doesn’t lift weights, we do share a lot of info on diet, supplements, and cardio.
