The tagline and discussion point of “no warm up…” lead many to assume you were doing big barbell lifts with heavy weights without doing any warm ups. Putting 3-4 plates on and deep squatting. Throwing on 225 and doing power cleans. Both cold; just walking into the gym. Your reflex to replying with an “eccentric leg press” as a max/PR, and later letting us know you use comfy machines with padded seats as your workout of choice made your initial question obsolete.

C’mon. You’re on a website called “T Natioin”. It should be clear what an appropriate response to a “max/PR” would be. Or, at the very least, that “eccentric leg press” would not be among those that were.

If I were to ask a room full of knitting girls the question about their maxes/PR’s, I’d expect things like: tricep kickbacks, seated leg curls, and eccentric leg press.

Does that mean yes on the machine?

Did you pull 407 or something similar first by putting two sets of clips on? Not a dig, just curious on how far you take microloading into progressing on weights.

Have you not seen the 5lbs plates?

I’m too interested how your typical deadlift workout looks? Honestly. How you build up the volume? Working sets?

Bro after all that talk about survival and adrenaline responses in the wild and the inefficacy of warming up you wait like 400 posts to mention that you do machine circuits?

Also eccentric leg press is way funnier than concentric so at least we’re making progress.

I don’t understand either of these. How can you do one without the other? I know the angled leg press machines have a lower safety hook so I guess you could lower it to that point and rack it for an eccentric. If you do something that starts in the lower position and all you do is press concentrically how do you get out? Is there another latch so you can turn a handle and lock the weight at the new height?

As if any of that matters. The only question here is, how much do Deer need to do on eccentric leg presses to outrun mountain lions?

And do lions superset concentric leg presses with machine calf raises for optimal carnage?

If a tree falls and kills a bear when nobody is around, could hammer strength chest presses have saved the bear?

I skipped this thread after reading the initial post, and now, 4 days later it’s up to about 400 replies for what I can only assume was a bit of uneducated ridiculousness in the first place.

Can someone just confirm for me lest I waste my morning sorting through what I can only assume would be everyone else arguing with one person who will never concede the foolishness of his original opinion? (Because we never see that on here! -lol)

You are correct and the OP is the same person reviving old, dead threads, and creating several new ones. The titles are mostly questions with the exception of this one.

Thanks guys. Yeah HIT is its own topic (I’m sure most of us tried and eventually moved on from it - I did), but even if you don’t stretch at the beginning of a session, ignoring any form of warm up, even just feeler sets working up to heavy weights is just foolish.
