I Don't Warm Up, I Don't Stretch

Don’t want to put her name out in a shit-show of a thread. If you know anything about me you might be able to figure it out. That’s all the clues I’m giving you!

Nothing wrong with a little mysticism. I respect it

Jesus

If this thread was a jeopardy clue, the question would be, “What happens when cognitive dissonance gets pregnant with Dunning Kruger’s love child?”

That’s an understatement…

@duketheslaya plz put this in ‘funniest threads.’ About time this got archived where it belongs: next to shoe guy, clavicle guy and ProfX greatest hits.

Done. Theres a few more recent ones too

IMO, whatever “lols” you may get from what PX wrote in those threads would be far overshadowed by the sad spectacle of the losers and angry children coming out of the woodwork to take potshots at him.

Perusing some of his older threads would be of great benefit to a lot of you younger guys in several areas in life, actually.

I have only read a few and think I would have just ignored most of the shit that come out of his (figurative) mouth. Although there was an older thread of his that he had a lot of good info to share. Seemed to know his shit when it came to nutrition and how the body uses energy.

Yeah, I mean, just read his posts with a non-biased mindset if you’re interested and decide for yourself. Yes, he was an ass, pissed of a lot of people, some of the guys attacking him were justified, etc. But he’s not even in the same universe as the loons linked in the funniest thread page. At least give him that much credit. There’s a reason why I still hung around since '03 to read his posts even though I had no interest in most of the articles.

And zero pukes

Hahhaha what happens if op has a stomach bug and it throws off his numbers

John Rugard is a pretty strong dude.

out of curiosity, how did you come to the conclusion that doing slow reps with a heavy weight is useful?

I’ve stayed away from doing reps at an intentionally slow pace (unless it is a very low weight), because I find THAT leaves me MORE exposed to injury. An 85% of max rep is no joke. And if I take the rep too slow, momentum will be potentially insufficient to complete the rep. And failure on any given lift will leave you SIGNIFICANTLY more likely to suffer an injury. We can agree on at least that, right? That if you fail a rep on a squat, you’re more likely to get injured? At the very least, you’ll likely turn what should be a relatively easy rep into a grinder by performing it slowly, and grinders most definitely should be avoiding in training. Injuries happen ALL THE TIME when people hit a lot of grinders. I definitely don’t need to see a study to know that’s true.

There are also certain lifts that CAN’T be performed at a slow pace. We haven’t even talked about dynamic lifts like cleans, jerks, and snatches. I have to assume those aren’t even a part of your programming, because it would be very, very obvious with those that you can’t adequately perform them without performing lighter reps first. You will fucking fail CONSTANTLY if you try to warm up with an 85% max snatch. And you’re DEFINITELY not ever going to hit a ‘slow’ snatch, even at 40% of your max.

I’m pretty sure my shoulders exploded just from reading this.

I believe OP follows HIT and I think that is part of why this thread is so weird and confusing.

Quite possibly. 80% of weak is, well, less than weak.

Bingo.

I do HIT. Machine oriented more than Olympic style lifting.

DEUS EX MACHINA

is what this thread needs.

Yeah, I all-capped it, because it is needed.

Most machines are designed to keep you in the easy, non challenging range of an exercise. With benches and handles angled to line you up correctly. While you sit on your ass. There are no challenging ranges to enter.

You don’t need to stretch or warm up because that shit is easy. The positions are not hard to get into.
