I Don't Want to be Huge!

Worrying about getting “too big” before you’ve reached “big” is the same logic some women use to avoid weight training in the first place.

Flawed at best.

What’s next?

"I’m not gonna lie, I don’t like the idea of the government taking so much of my money. I mean it’s not my fault that I work hard and am successful, everyone else should just work harder, right?

So, anyone know where I can get a job? Rent’s due and people are starting to notice that I’ve stopped bathing in order to conserve water."

Also, justifying yourself to people that have neither questioned nor criticised you (the first paragraph of your original post) makes you sound insecure. That may not be the case but it’s how it comes across.

As for your goal, do you know what you would look like if you reached those stats? How can you be sure that you wouldn’t have any weaknesses?

My goal is to keep on improving until I’m either:

a) satisfied.

or

b) no longer capable of improving.
Okay, I ain’t worrying about getting too big, my point is that I don’t want to get to the point where your so big you look out of proportion! My big brothers friend is 6ft and got up to 19 stone, he looked ridiculous in my opinion. His head actually looked really small in relation to his body! Thats the big that I’m talking about…
Your last point is a fair one. I don’t have a clue how I’ll feel about myself when I get there, am I insecure? Well insecure is a strong word, I’d prefer unsatisfied!

I wouldn’t mind being “too big” and out of proportion. First, shrinking to a size I like would be the easiest thing in the world. Second, I don’t exactly have the frame of a Greek god so it’s not like I have any beautiful proportions to lose.

your retarded for posting this. But ill forgive you cause it seems your new here

you will find once you reach that weight, that you are unsatisfied

So what the hell was the point of this? If you don’t want to be huge, then we’re not going to make you.

Anyway, a genuine 220lbs at 6% bf is pretty impressive, and the point Bushy was making imo was that if you aim low (in terms of size) - it’s something you’ll never acheive.

I’m with you. I’m not going for that huge, bulky look. But like someone here already mentioned,
I think that’s already the goal of most T-Nation members.

Muscular, trim, and athletic. That’s where it’s at.
Whey Man, cool to see you here…I haven’t been around abc in forever, you actually reminded me of those guys.

Another thing to consider is that there are several different paths that you can take to achieve your goal.

One path, in which you try to maintain a very low bf % while slowly building up to that bodyweight is going to take you a looooooong time to get you there.

If on the other hand you train like someone who is trying to get hyooge and just stop when you’ve reached your target lean mass, then you’ll most likely get there a heck of a lot quicker.

This notion that you have that you need to avoid trying to get huge is silly IMO. You’re not going to wake up one day and be ridiculously huge, or accidentely overshoot your goal size.

Just train as hard as you can (and if you want the most efficient way to get there look at what the guys who are actually trying to get huge are doing) and when you reach your satisfactory body size, stop and just maintain.

Good luck.

Sento you haven’t been paying attention, we already figured out on another thread that big guys are not the best guys to look to for finding out how to get uh… big.

What the hell does that even mean?

If you don’t want to get big, it’s not going to happen. Don’t flatter yourself into thinking that you will surpass your goals on accident. You have to want to be big to get big.

You guys sound like a bunch of women. “I want to lift, but I don’t want to bulk up”.

Good God.

I fell through the door of a gym once and got too fucking huge… it sucked… I had to wait like six months to get my lean athletic body back, cause you know that’s where it’s at…

I fucking hate when that happens.

Bunch of goddamn nancies… go to Crossfit.

From what you’ve written, I highly doubt that you will ever need to worry about getting that big. And yes, you do sound like a girl with your “I don’t want to get too big” mentality.

Maybe I was mistaken by saying it like that. While I don’t want to get huge, I know that I will never get huge like the pro bodybuiilders so I really have nothing to worry about. I can eat and train just as strictly but I will never get that big so that is good. I’m just going to get as big as possible for me.

This whole mindset really does kill me. People who concentrate on what they don’t want to achieve usually wind up achieving very little. That whole way of thinking is goofy. Here’s an idea. Why not just think and talk about what you DO want to achieve? People who concentrate on NOT getting too big wind up not getting anywhere.

I don’t want to be small!

Size isn’t my primary goal. In fact, I don’t want to get huge. I’m here to get stronger. In any case, if becoming huge would help me get stronger, then I’ll make myself huge.

My point is that if reaching 250 lbs at 15% BF will help you get to 220 lbs @ 8% BF much faster in the long run, then by all means gain all those pounds.

You can also research on Frank Zane.

I do not want a vagina on my own body. I do want some vagina, however, which leaves me perplexed.

Exactly. Aim low, and that is prescisely where you will end up.

Besides, 220lbs @ 6% is a pretty respectable bodybuilder type physique, yet you claim you do not want to resemble a bodybuilder.

My point is that you are making a paradoxical statement.

“I don’t want to look like a bodybuilder” Yet 220lbs @ 6% looks just like a bodybuilder.

You are very tall though, so it won’t look exactly ‘hyooge’ on you I suppose, but still, to get where you want to go (30lbs heavier with less bodyfat), you will need to eat and train exactly like a BBer, IMO.
Bushy
I dont know where you got the “I dont want to look like a bodybuilder” quote from and people on the one hand are saying if you aim low thats where your gonna stay and on the other there then saying “Oh and 6% bf @ 220lb’s is pretty impressive”

I’m not being negative when I tell you my goal I’m just being realistic and people are right, that physique will be damn impressive once I get there!
When i read back on the openong post it does sound a little negative etc but it ain’t and my outlook on my training, diet etc isn’t either.
