I Do What I Want 2010

Um I try not to do specific grip very often. I do have grippers that I mess with now and then but more for a test type thing. I do a lot of mechanic work, fencing and “grip” type work that I dont get to worried about it.

even though my whole body had doms i still wanted to get to the gym tonight to get in some deadlifts.

plan was to do some singles and then just play it by ear. either just leave or stick around and burn some cals.

ended up being there almost two hours. lots of sets. lol

workout:

deadlift: 135 x 8; 185 x 4; 215 x 2; 235 x 2; 265 x 1; 265 x 1; 215 x 2, 2, 2; 235 x 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1
hang clean/push press: 75 x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
bb step ups (14.5" box): 95 x 8L/8R, 8L/8R, 8L/8R, 8L/8R, 8L/8R; 110 x 10L/10R

doesn’t look like much but it felt just right and i’m pretty wiped. in a good way.

gonna go back to the gym again tomorrow and just do some big sets with really light weights and other fun stuff. just want to burn a few calories and make sure my head is in the game and my mood is good for new year’s eve. i don’t want to drink a bunch. aiming for about 5 beers throughout the entire night. major goal is to wake up saturday morning and feel great.

nutrition’s been perfect all day. i’m in the zone. big time.

stay, save money, absorb and remboralize everything you can about your here and now. take a job east, and use/make vacation time to travel to europe periodically. week here, 10 days there, etc.

you’ll get the time you need and want now, you’ll have the money, and the time spent out later will be appreciated but not get too gluttonous.

I am going to cast the dissenting vote for Europe. There are times in one’s life where a unique opportunity knocks. There are always, ALWAYS a million reasons not to take it. But the question that you need to honestly ask yourself is, “will I always regret not having done it?”

Staying in the same place you’ve lived for awhile v. actually living in a foreign country. For me, I think I would always regret losing that opportunity to experience life…not a vacation, but life…in a foreign country. The next time you’ll ever have this opportunity is maybe, MAYBE when you are old and retired. Honestly, that’s not the same as being young and free with your whole life ahead of you.

There is a place for prudence and caution, and there is a place for seizing the day. I’d encourage you to carpe diem.

funny cuz based on the other place i asked this question i would of guessed kimba would be in teh TRAVEL camp. =+) that’s a good thing mama.

well thanks for chiming in everybody.

the last few days i’v actually become fairly certain i’m NOT gonna do the europe trip at this point.

the timing’s not gonna work out great.

and the fact i’d have to come back here… fly out east (maybe twice) and then have to have enough money when i get there for a deposit, first months rent, a bed, a car, etc etc… would leave me all stressed out the whole trip anyways. i wouldn’t want to spend a dime… yet i can’t stand to stay with people and not be able to buy food, beer, stuff. the least i could do.

the good thing is i’m absolutely at peace with this decision. travel is a HIGH priority in my life and i’m gonna enjoy it so much more with a little financial security.

i’ll also enjoy it a ton more when i get my head in a better, happier, more confident and self actualized space.

instead of europe i’ll do vegas with friend in the spring. and then hopefully a bahamas or jamaica or something trip and a few trips around the east side of the country. that should be enough to get me through the year and still not feel constrained. shit moving to a brand new place is going to feel a LOT like travel on it’s own.

if the job ends up where it’s not going to happen til early summer or something i’ll probably end up changing my mind and going to europe. if not… then even better. locking down a job is my real concern here.

thanks again for the imput. the TRAVEL people, i don’t take lightly. but i just don’t think it’s this trip, this time. and luckily for me it’s a trip i’ve done.

headed to the gym…but they were rearranging everything so i wasn’t able to really do any leg stuff and had to just go with a few things that were already moved and set up.

workout:

1.5 mile dreadmill walk steep incline
bb bench press: 65 x 10; 85 x 8; 95 x 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
pullups: bw x 4, 4, 4 (freakin hard my back/arms are toast)
db rows: 65 x 12L/12R

as long as you look at this situation realizing there is no “good or bad choice” every road has its perks, its lessons and its friends.

I would have told you to carpe diem but I also understand what it means to be financially constrained. When I backpacked through cambodia I was between jobs. My choice was to only travel for a week and do it cheaply, come back and do the job search in earnest.
