I Do What I Want 2010

wow!lots of changes for you , but good stuff! adventure! I hope your trip goes well…denver’s not a bad place to live

wow! what an adventure! …i’m a bit of a vagabond roamer myself…denver’s not a bad spot to land though  what is your profession??

i find it entertaining how posts don’t show up in here and force people to try to rewrite what they were thinking. =+)

yah i was born in denver and it’s actually high up on the list of places i’m considering.

i don’t have a “profession”. =+(

i need to figure out what the hell i want to do…but i really don’t care much. as long as it doesn’t involve too much public ass kissing. i’m into hard work… and like jobs that involve a variety of tasks… but besides that i’m pretty much open to anything. i’ve worked ALL KINDS of jobs. lol

Join the Navy!! You get to travel the world…at least thats one of the reasons I joined a million years ago.

I’ve done everything from hauling paint buckets, laying tile, hauling subs to forecasting the weather

i want to be able to ask and tell. ;+)

but in all seriousness i have considered it. the military would be a good way to get a variety of skills, maybe get to travel, etc etc. i like the focus on fitness and stuff. i just don’t know if i could handle all the "yes, sir"ing. lol and i feel a bit old to be pursuing that now.

nah, if its something your considering, why not? nothing really holding you back at this point…hell, I even considered going back in just to get more schooling. Buuuut I did my time
And hubby is still doing his.

the yes, sir’ing and maam’ing is pretty much only in boot camp. Things are pretty lax when you get out to the fleet. Sure there is a level of military bearing you should have, but it’s not all that serious all the time.

We were one of the last divisions of boots that went through where boot camp was still considered ‘hard.’ I hear it’s a joke nowadays…not sure about other branches though.

And the Prez is working on that don’t ask law…I’ve heard as soon as New year? The Top Brass are the ones who want it gone the most!

mccain and his filibustering. ugh.

but yeah i’ve considered the military. i’d love to get some more schooling myself and i’d love all the stuff i’d get to do. but i really don’t know how i’d feel about the lifestyle, the uniform, etc etc. haha

hmmmmm. so many choices.

i do have the freedom to do something outrageously life changing like that now tho.

hey deja! ‘outrageously life changing’ i like the sound of that!!!
glad you are still truckin’ along. although a really tough time emotionally, this seems like an exciting time to make some changes. i look forward to seeing where your journey will take you. nor cal is always nice if you don’t want to leave the state.

It’s a big choice!

Just be sure not to talk to a recruiter until your like 90% certain…cause they will hound you, it’s there job!

hey T! missed ya. =+) yah i love it up there. would definitely be a nice place to live.

so betty what made you pick the navy over the other branches?

the commercials!

She’s cute!

Thats what my hubby did when he first joined(ordnance) And we were stationed in VA to start.

In all seriousness, the Navy was what I was most familiar with. And it is most known for getting to travel which is what I wanted to do. Even though I didn’t get to.

No matter what, do your research and know exactly what you want going into it. Recruiters are known for being shady. They have quotas to fill! There like really good car salesman! I didn’t know jack about anything and got suckered in but in a way I didn’t care cause I just wanted out of the situation I was in.

ahhhh I remember all this!! Accept we had to march every damn place and not everything was in one building.

yeah the recruiters remind me of the mormons. i try to avoid them all. haha

hmmmm. i’m really considering this as an option. i’ll have to do a bunch of reading.

what do you mean got suckered in? like into a job you didn’t want or just into the navy in general??

Into a job I didn’t want.

I wanted to go to corpsman school right out of boot camp but there was a waiting list about a year long. I didn’t really want to wait…so instead of encouraging me to choose something different, there all, ‘just be a deck seaman, so you can experience all sorts of different jobs while your waiting!’ hahaha

Oh well! Everything happens for a reason…

don’t know if i’ve mentioned my goals by the time i turn 30 (8 months) here but i’ve said it’s to be in the best shape/leanest i’ve been in my adult life. i’m gonna elaborate on that and say i want to be lean, strong, fast, and conditioned.

lean - widest belly/love handle measurement of under 31.5", 200 pts in challenge (on diff site)
strong - 220 lb squat, bodyweight military press, 325 lb deadlift
fast - i’m going to decide times for 100 meters and 800 meters
conditioned - be able to run 5 miles without walking, 20 rep bw bb back squats

all by the time i turn 30.

got in a full body workout. i was way excited to deadlift for the first time in ages. the reps i got in felt GREAT, but i made a stupid error. on the 3rd rep @ 215… i suddenly turned my head to the right to check how high my hips were in the mirror. for some reason i did the pull with my head like that… and it gave me a dirty ass pain in my spine. normally i’d be boneheaded and keep going but the last thing i want is to be in pain all week so i quit deadlifting right there. i’ll do them on leg day or something. back’s feeling fine now… but i really didn’t want to risk feeling shitty all week.

workout:

bb deadlift: 135 x 8; 185 x 5; 215 x 3 (turned head, pain = quit)
bb bench press: 55 x 12; 85 x 6; 105 x 4; 130 x 2; 100 x 10, 9
pull ups: +10 lbs x 4, 3, 2
hanging knee raises: bw x 12, 12
bb step ups (14.5" stump): 95 x 30

bench strength is coming back. can’t wait to get back to deadlifting and squatting regularly. and getting in some running. it’ll be good to make me appreciate the lifting.

wearing my cheerleader out Go Deja!

Hope that pain doesn’t linger and you have the sexiest pullups in our neck of the woods.

ive turned to look while squatting before, too. def puts my neck in an awful place for a week or so.

its good to be in here. i like where you are now, even if you dont.
