thanks fiveoh01…i only hope to get better as my 40’s start rolling in.
just as a sort of update, i’ve been on a bulk plan since end of august and i’m now about 172 lbs! and i wish it was all muscle! but sadly it’s not. i’m up around 12.5% bf so I’d guess it’s about half and half. my goal for next summer is to be at least 160 at 6% bf.
1morerep, every time I check this thread it really motivates me. Specifically the fact that you looked in the mirror one day, didn’t like what you saw, and had the balls to put an end to it.
I’m trying to do something similar to you right now. This summer my friends and I were all out of shape and hadn’t worked out for over a year. We all together said F it and started training again. I’m the only one who’s still going at it and it’s threads like this that have kept me on track. Thanks.

thanks v1. you know as well as i that if it wasn’t such hard work…every dooshbag on the street would have good body. if i played a small part in your motivation then i’m glad. thanks for letting me know!
lol…yes i did get a lot of dirty looks from the seniors my freshman year!
and swinada, the pic in my gallery with the shirt on, i was about 185 and at least 20% bf. just look at the roll of fat in my neck! it was this pic and others taken that night that made me realize i needed to do something and fast.
This is the type of muscle development that I prefer, instead of the extremely massive muscles that are so common in body building competitions. The exceptional definition along with arm muscles that are in proportion is what works.
thanks mej. yes at only 5’7, i’m not a fan of that blocky look either. not that i could achieve it anyway but i’d rather strive for lean and proportioned.

a year younger than you but unfortunately only been training for 4 years. still ai least i may look that good when i hit…er 63[/quote]
many thanks. but if you’re 38, you have 10 solid years to look like 48 year old Dave Goodin who is my inspiration. but hopefully it wont take me that long either!
Wonderful job. The only weak points I can see are maybe calves and spinal erectors. I may have missed it when reading over the thread, but if you have a lower back injury then perhaps try back extensions or rack pulls instead of full deadlifts. Anyway, just my two cents.
How is the bulk going? How much are you sitting at right now, and when will you begin to lean down?
thanks guys. yes my calves are way weak compared to the rest. and my back development has suffered since my injury. i can’t use heavy poundages on stuff like bent rows or deads although i’ve recently begun rack deads and so far so good.
and as for my bulk, i gained a few pound of muscle but way too much bodyfat. i went a little ape shit in regards to over indulgence. but i’m not worried about it. i’ll be back in shape in a few months.
