I,BODYBUILDER Experience

I did 3 weeks of Shoulder spec, followed by 4 weeks of back and so far 2 weeks of legs. I did the protocol with 2 (and later 3) scoops workout fuel, 2 anaconda, 1 mag10.

Strength-wise:
-Shoulders went up a lot
-Back stagnated. In particular my rack pulls and deadlift didn’t move up at all. The different kinds of rows, etc. went up a bit, but nothing to bat an eye at
-Legs seem to be progressing well

Mass:
I gained around 4 pounds during this time and it seems lean, or maybe 3 of it lean and 1 fat (was at and still am at 11% BF). Not horrible but not “building muscle as fast as humanly possible” either.

In general:

  1. I do like the style of training of 3 reps. It seems to get me far less mileage with machines, however. the max rep set is good for adding extra volume, and I think I’d use it more often than in the actual program for best results

  2. I like the idea of specializing. I think I’ll do a lower-back and abs specialization to get my lower body lifts up in general, and hopefully with that my dead will be going up again. Perhaps one problem with the back spec is that the back is just too big to hammer every part of it sufficiently for progress.

So you built 3 solid lbs (not counting the 1 lb of fat) in 9 weeks, and you’re doubting if this is as fast as humanely possible? At that rate you’re talking about a bit more than 15 solid lbs in a year. Do you have any idea how much of a difference in your physique 15 lbs of muscle makes? -lol
(or for that matter how much 5 lbs actually makes?)

Yep…I’d take that every single time

Hey guys, do you think you could give me some advice in my thread here: One Armed Row and Bench Critique - Beginners - Forums - T Nation

I also did I,Bodybuilder, my first bulk not sure where to go now.

I have to go with Mighty Stu on this one. Many people think there next program will had 10 to 20 pounds on their frame while many national level bodybuilders struggle to had 10 pounds in a year. On the other hand, you gotta know that building muscles as fast as humanely possible is different for everyones. Humanely possible is maybe 3 lbs in 9 weeks for you and 8 lbs on another one.

This is all about you and not the others. A good example could be CT and me. CT is able to put 2 to 3 times more lbs in the same amount of time than me. That’s why the first IBB claim he gained up to 25 lbs while I ended up with 10 lbs, for me 10 was as fast as humanly possible.

I was aiming for something like 3 lbs a month. I guess that’s too ambitious?

Any general guidelines for how much mass I should expect to gain per month so to know when the routine/diet at the time needs to change?

Since the rate we’re able to gain muscle is highly individual, there’s no way forecast what you will gain under ideal circumstances.
