Still, 435 is a lot of weight.
I mean, if you do 8, 1/8 squats, does it count as a squat?

This one I’ll defend. I do these regularly as a squat assistance although I start a bit lower; first at hip height and then at waist height. You load it up heavier than normal. Kind of like bench lockouts for squat.

I agree super loading heavier then normal weight taxes the nervous system and gets you ready to add more lbs. 1/8 squats are good for that. But never count them as your squat weight.
I see people all the time say. I never squat low or past parallel cause I don’t hurt “insert silly excuse here” myself.
But people that really lift in my gym all super load weights to prep CNS recruitment.

yup
I like this one too, maybe more so for the commentary, at least it’s a better effort then the original link.
BTW, it’s “100% legit!!”
Note to self: choose training partners wisely.
Am I the only one surprised he was actually able to hoist to weight on his back(albeit with the tampon) and move it at all without snapping in half?
It ain’t no squat, but holding that much weight on your back is somewhat impressive for a skinny dude, at least compared to this guy:

WOW! Douchebag of the year…
He probably didn’t do too well in physics…
If nothing else these videos do serve a purpose in showing what not to do.
What I dont get is that most of this shit is going on in school weightrooms, where is the coach, trainer or some type of supervision?
I saw one video of kids trying to do Oly lifts and almost killing themselves.
WTF!

No shit. The first time I ever stepped foot in my high school weight room, everyone was squatting like that. Including me. We didn’t know any better, and we didn’t have the internet to help us either.
I thought it was funny that the cluster of basketball players came over at the end and it sounded like they were impressed…
it must be a school for “special” people

Natural selection is doing its job perfectly here.
I lift at my highschool. Everytime I try to correct some dipshit catching a power clean with his wrists as the only support, or doing half squats, or benching five days a week it never gets through. I’ve given up.
Wow. That hurt just watching it.

My guess: The smith machine probably saved him. Then again, 484lbs crashing down on your neck might hurt…
I don’t think he died. The video wouldn’t be on youtube if he did, well I hope.
For op’s video, I noticed that he’s putting his thumb around the bar and holding the bar more with his arms than his back. Well at least he’s not using a smith machine.

i spent 15 minutes trying to show someone how to deadlift today.
he wants to learn though so i dont get frustrated, i told him to search up videos on youtube and watch like 10 different ones.
he didnt even know you locked your arms out first. but he’ll get there god dammit.
maybe i made it seem too complicated by telling him “arch your back, spread your chest, rotate your forearms out to lock the lats, dig in with your heels, keep your shoulders over the bar, put your shins on the bar, and DROP YOUR HIPS…NOW LOCK IT OUT!!!”
…yeah maybe i shoulda just said, arch your back and lift the weight.
but i already got into this kids head. he was like yeah, what you said makes sense cause i dont want to wear a hoody and look mad scrawny and have abs but no one knows, id rather have a hoody on and look jacked. im going to become a cult leader at my gym.
