Huge Record Setting Day!

Had a huge day at the weights today. I put up 225 on the bench today which has been my goal for like ever. Just 10 weeks ago i decided to get real serious and not let anything interupt my training if at all possible. 10 weeks ago i bench pressed 200, now i have a 25lb PR of 225 at a body weight of about 140-145, feels great to be making progress. The thing is i’ve made this progress while working 10 hour days at a lumber yard and not eating all that well. So there is not telling what i could accomplish if i get everything dialed in. Now i just gotta get that squat and deadlift up.

Good job! Just don’t let yourself stagnate now that you’ve made it…continue setting goals and making 'em.

My goal now is 275 by christmass for bench press. And i only do 5 rep maxes in squats and deads, and they are also really weak so dont laugh. My goal for these is 225 for 5 reps on each by fall break, which is like october 22nd or 23rd. I’m only doing about 185x5 on each right now. I have to progress really slow right now cause i’m just getting back into it from an injury. One thing i dont get is, i haven’t gained any weight on the scale, but i’m looking alot bigger. Any clue why?

wow thats a nice bench at that weight. I’m a little lighter but ive just started ‘real’ training. ive actually hit 165 for 3 reps with some help for the last 2 at the end of my workout, so i think my max 1 rep would be around 180 or so.

However, it does seem your leg lifts need help. Did you just neglect the legs and work upper body only?

When I first started doing deads i was using 45s a side but gradually just kept adding weight and I can hit 250-260 at the end of the workout. My main weakness is my grip which causes me to give out. im working on that though. but my progress has skyrockted and would have continued to rise if it wasnt for injuries and lack of equipment.

for legs i mainly do reps of 3-5 deads, some cleans, good mornings, rdl, and glute ham raises. stick that in your routine and you’ll be hitting those numbers easily.

my goals are to break 200 by end of year and hopefully over 300 in deads and high 200s in squat.

What kind of training have you been doing? My bench has been stuck just above 200 for awhile while other lifts have gone up (I’m 140lbs too)

Also if you want a good program to build up your squat and help bench too I just started a new program that is working great. I’ve already upped my 5rm on squat by 15lbs in just a couple of weeks.
