Here is the deal. I’ve been using the 100 reps for chest and calves with great results. Next week I start HST. This is my deconditioning week…a full week away from the gym
Anyway, I plan on doing HST on M/W/F with these exercises: squat (alternated with deadlifts), led curls, bench press, weighted dips, db press, laterals, weighted chins, rows, barbell curls, skullcrushers, pressdowns, abs on a moon bench. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday will be devoted exclusively to the toothpicks I call calves. I was thinking of doing 100 pushups on these days (tues, thurs, sat), and doing 100 calf raises on M/W/F. Is this possibly too much?? Is anybody else doing something similar to this?? I see no problem in doing it, but I wanted to throw this question out to see if anybody had any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
I had great results from GVT and other high rep training programs. So if works for you keep using it until you stop getting results. I will be trying HST as of today. I had positive results from GVT(10x10 training) and got stronger on all my lifts. How strong? Well, my bench went from 220 to 310 and my deadlift from 315 to 455 for 3 reps. I did modify the program a bit by starting with a heavy weight that I could for 10 reps and then take weight off for each set. Not bad for a 6 foot, 200 lb, 36 year old male that was not training for strength or power.
I will tweak HST by adding in power cleans and deadlifts and other exercises that have improved my strength. On my off days, I will concentrate on bike riding and sprinting.
I think HST training makes a lot of sense at least on paper. I’ll give it try for 8 weeks and see what happens.
K-dog, I’m starting the exact same protocol in two weeks so I’ll keep you posted. I had great results after only a few weeks of 100 Reps doing pushups, I ceased when I became ill, but plan to incorporate the program into my next cycle of HST. Lata.

KDog,
Your protocol sounds good. Be sure to let me know how it works for you and if you have any other questions. Best of Luck!
