Meat that’s actually fucking insane, My currents lifts arent too far off yours… about 40lb less on the squat, 10-15 on the bench and my dead’s about 30lbs more ataround the same bodyweight.
I’d be fucking delighted with numbers like yours in 2 years. I’m guessing the 80lb gain helped somewhat…
Do you attribute your big squat and DL jumps to a combination of box squatting and increased hamstring strength…??
I’ve been doning westside oirentated bench work for the last 14 or so weeks and it’s made a huge difference. I’m sill really skeptical about the lower body approach tho!

your deading close to 800lbs? I just looked at your profile and it has you at 198 with 2 years of training. what’s your current weight? Do you compete? If you do,is it raw or geared? I will have my first meet this december.
I trained mainly using bodybuilding techniques for years and years. My volume was too high and I always went to failure.
I definitely contribute westside to getting me stronger. I use the basic templete but have adjusted to fit my needs.
I don’t do a lot of box squats, although I probably should. I think speed deads and pin pulls have benefitted me the most.

Haha fuck no!! I’m hoping to pull like 460-470 in my next meet in 10 days. I meant I was close to where you were 2 years ago!
I’m looking to go 440/290-300/460-470 in 10 days. In just a belt, at 198. I’ve been training about 2 years but since last december I’ve been in a powerlifting gym and my lifts have shot up. In April I went 365/250/420 @198. Gear comes next year. I can’t wait to see how you do. You’ll definately do some damage with those numbers. You gonna lift at 275 or 308?
On a side not it’s interesting how you didnt start growing until you ditched bodybuilding training and started powerlifting!
Oh so for the original poster… I’ll have put around 170lbs on my total in 6 months.

In the past two years my bench has gone from 315 to 565, dead went from 405 to 725, and my squat went from 495 to 740. I have Westside to thank for that. Also, bodyweight went from 210 to 290.

Meat does have some insane numbers, and that they are raw is even more impressive. What meet are you doing in Dec? You should think about doing the New England Record Breakers if they have that again next year.

I"ll compete in the 275’s. I grew from bodybuilding but definitely not to the degree from powerlifting.
those are some great numbers for your weight. keep the great work up.
I am blessed to live near a USAPL national champion. I often make the drive to his house. Last weekend I spotted him doing a 745 squat- he BURIED it. After that I did some triples with 475. The bar looked so light.
I know if I were training on my own without other guys in my ear the weight would have intimidated me. But after seeing his display it seemed like baby weight.
My squat has improved, I did 524 a few months ago and am on track for 560-570 at my next meet in a month. During the last summer I’d drive 3 hours each way to train there on weekends.
I made very good strength gains following a Westside type template… I got my squat and deadlift up to over 450… but I also discovered that my legs and upper back are not matched by my lower back, which herniated.

Haha you’re just aying that cos you were at a similar level 2 years ago!
I second the call for you to go compete at the NERB next year. I’d say you’d surprise a lot of people.

If they have any meets or need judges around here let me know, I would like to get involved. Good luck with it.
