How to Increase Weight w/ Good Mornings and DB Rows?

Option 1 of the 2 day template in 531 second edition mentions that I can do both as assistance work, 3 sets of 10. How do I increase weight in each exercise each week?
By the way I used to do Barbell Rows 5 reps x 170 pounds. Should I transfer that weight to dumbell rows?

Jim has an article on his blog about programming assistance if you want to go down that path.

Personally, I just hit a weight that feels like I have 2 or 3 reps left in the tank and when that feels easy (3 or 4 reps in the tank), I go a bit heavier.

Good mornings -Jim has talked about value of keeping them light/not adding weight and focusing on form and getting good reps in etc…

dumbell rows -do whatever, they can go up pretty fast, alternating each week between 5x5 and 100 reps/5x20 is a good strategy. Jim also talked a lot about value of Kroc rows

  1. Don’t worry about it too much. Your main focus should be on the main lifts.
  2. You can do something like 3x8-12. You should get an minimum of 8 reps and when you can get 12 reps on all 3 sets, you up the weight by 5 pounds and start over.
  3. Seriously, don’t worry about it too much.
