1.5 mg of melatonin + 1 Z12 does it for me. I only need it when I have work the next day, so I’m only on those 5 days a week.
I’m going to try Poliquin’s Topical Mag tonight. I was reading one of threads here a while back that mentioned one spray of that can knock you out pretty quickly.

Simple and very effective.
Sleeping is a habit. If you get crappy sleep for a long time, it will take a while for it to be good again. If you improve sleep habits it gets easier and easier to fall asleep.
I have been having some problems with my sleep lately. I have a hard time falling asleep, my sleep does not seem very deep and i usually wake up an hour before i shold even though I still feel tired.
Right now I am taking magnesium along with some protein and fat, right before getting in to bed. What can I do to increase the quality of my sleep?
I always go to bed with food on my stomach, not a snack, but an actual meal of some kind.
I watch something stupid or silly on TV for about an hour, never anything serious. Thank God for Family Guy, South Park, etcetera.
I sleep in a very cold room year round, probably around 63 degrees F, with a fan running also. (This is a big one for me, I can not stand to sleep anywhere hot.)
I try to never think about the next day, as that generally will start keeping me awake-- if I can’t fall right off to sleep, I think about something that makes me happy like my naked girlfriend, lifting, going fishing on the coast, etcetera.
The only time in my life I had trouble getting good sleep was in college and when I first moved back home from the service, I remember being stressed out all the time, getting to bed at weird hours, dreading an exam or whatever. I have since learned from that, and try to be as care free as possible when laying my head on the pillow. Also, I don’t take naps during the day regardlesss of how tired I might feel, as I will be up all night long.
You can also go Koresh style–excuse me, Poliquin style–and turn off every electrical thing in the house, including your alarm. Won’t be a big deal when you’re chronically late to work or want some air conditioning in blazing hot summers.

The point is to eliminate light, to sleep in an almost pitch black room.
For those of you that wake up in the middle of the night to pee… how do you handle this? Is there anyway to prevent this? Almost every night/morning I wake up to go to the bathroom and I feel like this is somewhat ruining my sleep cycle. I have tried the obvious of drinking less or nothing before bed, but this doesn’t seem to make much of a difference.
Stay in REM longer (assuming you’re not in this phase for a desirable amount of time; I think there’s a limit, though, but can’t recall)
The question then is:
How do I artificially improve each (shortcut to REM, longer REM) ?
We need to page BBB on this one…
Z-12 didn’t do much for me. It worked for 4 days (4 pills each time) then it just stopped working. ZMA worked better than Elite Pro.
I think I’m going to run for 30 min and take Tryptophan+Phosphatidylserine (800 mg)+10g glycine+Alpha GPA (capsule form) and see if I feel more refreshed. Lately, I just feel groggy no matter how much sleep I get.
Has anyone tried using ZMA + Z-12 or is that overkill? My biggest problem is actually getting to sleep. I’ve tried Z-12 and ZMA and once I’m finally asleep both help me get incredible rest and feel great in the morning. The only problem is that neither actually help me get to bed.
I travel almost every week, and Sunday nights I would love to get to bed around 8 PM because I have to get up at 5:00 AM to head to the airport.
What do you take, what do you do, what do you eat in order to get the BEST sleep you can?
Getting the best, restful, recovering sleep has been a bit of interest to me lately, so I wanted to hear from the crowd here what their take(s) are on it.
So let’s hear it…[/quote]
The things that have worked best for me:
35 drops of Passionflower Extract in half cup of water along with a SleepMD

i do this too. i don’t see it as that big of a deal really. waking up b/c you have to pee is pretty natural, its’ not an abrupt awakening (unless you piss yourself).
plus it’s such a minor thing, unless your bathroom is 10mi away out in the cold.
don’t try and focus so hard on little things.
get up, piss, go back to bed.
or if you want your awakenings to mean something, have a shake while you piss.
