How To Get Ripped

Hey all, I am looking for reasoning for my lack of definition. I have always heard once you lose the bodyfat around muscle, then you appear more ripped. However, in my case, while dieting, I just get leaner and tighter with no new noticble cuts. (For example, no shoulder bicep seperation)Though I have added a good amount of size with a few years training, I don’t believe I stand out as someone that works out if I wear a basketball jersey or something, I just look thick. Is this purely genetic, or will this change over the years with consistent training? Do I have any hope or will people keep telling me that some little ripped 170 pounder is more jacked than me?

O my…

whats your bodyfat, weight, and height? you probably need to lose more bodyfat. you probably have a crappy diet where your losing a lot of muscle. or you have not alot of muscle to start with.

You probably have a lot higher bodyfat than you think you do.

Anyway, this thread is about to turn into a huge clusterfuck.

Good luck!

I was going to suggest Jack Daniels.

ill drink to that

Fair enough. 5’10 235 at 16%Bf. I am not currently cutting, but I have before in the past using CT’s mutation program twice. I followed that program exactly, but I had to abandon it both times because I lost more weight than I wanted to. I lost 15 pounds in two weeks both times around)the last time I did the program I started at 220 and ended up around 205 after two weeks I followed the diet and training exactly, so I am not sure why that much weight flew off that quickly. Its really hard to describe without pics, but I felt like I kept whatever muscle I had but I lost all fat around the midsection. No noticeable changes were made anywhere else on my body. I looked the same with just a smaller waist.

I’m really sure what the confusion is. At 16%, depending on how you carry your fat, you might well not have definition. If you have added the muscle you want or simply want to take a break to see what you’ve got under there, take some time to lean out.

Any idea on what bodyfat % was at the end of that?

Not exactl no. However, judging by the fact that my stomach lost considerable fat, it had to be pretty low. I should also note that I really didn’t have any flab on top or around my legs either. I felt pretty tight, just not defined.

you said it. that 170 pounder may have more muscle mass than you even at 235. how much of that is fat? how much of that is water? how much of that thick bones? how much of that is genetics.

I am a big guy myself. 6’ 4" 240 lbs. But I have seen some “jacked” guys that weigh alot less than me. Another example of how weight is a horrible represenative of how someone may look.

Fles wheeler weighed around 235. would you think that your 235 is as “jacked” as his 235.

I give the little dudes credit. There a few in particular in my gym that are just awesome. Neither of them weigh more than a $1.80 $1.90 and both of them will put most 240 250 lb guys like myself to shame. Both og them have very low bodyfat. Small frames and full muscle bellies. these are the guys that look like flex wheeler when they weigh 235.

Don’t ever confuse weight with shape and build.

There is no standard for 235, 170, whatever. Arnolds 240 and my 240 arnt even close. His arms are about 5 inches bigger than mine. Funny, because the guy that weighs about 180 in my gym has bigger arms than me.

Ripped requires very low bodyfat%.

I’ll never be ripped. I’m too hungry to be ripped. Being ripped has alot to do with genetics if you don’t diet well. Depens on the number of fat cells you were given. Those guys like David Robinson have alot fewer fat cells than you. He went to a nutritionist and still could not gain fat. He only has a few fat cells to enlarge.

My guess is this, if you want to be ripped. Build alot of muscle and try to shrink the existing fat cells that you do have, because you are never going to get rid of them.

why would u be ripped at 16% bf?
