I don’t mean when you were relatively new…like how strong were you the FIRST time you picked up a weight?
I was a junior in high school in February 1999, and was attending college full time on a state sponsored program (secret brag thread), and was scheduled to graduate a year early from high school. The credit I got from college classes was also counting towards h.s. credit.
The only thing I hadn’t replaced was a gym course. I decided I would start working out at my colleges gym, and have a trainer sign off that I was working out several times per week. Well, at my initial fitness test the numbers I put up were pretty humbling:
I finished a bulk back in March and benched 340 lbs, and squatted 400. It’s weird to think of, because you hopefully make strength gains week to week, so it’s easy to forget where you started, and to think that I can squat and bench about 5x more than when I started years ago is kind of humbling. As much as I want to shit on everyone who’s dicking around in the gym wasting there time, I started out just like them.
I haven’t made any progress.
None at all but on the bright side your beard bulk seems to be going well.
Couldnt deadlift the barbell without rounding my back very much…
After a operation i gave up on all physical activity and ate very little (probably 1 meal every couple days or so) and a 2kg db curl was a 1 rep thing (SERIOUSLY).
Now i can do 4 plates a side dead and have squatted 150kg x4. Nothing special but every1 i use to know is jealous as hell hahaha
Now I squat in the low 500’s
Dead low 600’s
Bench in mid 300’s
No comparison between my old me and me now. Even with the injuries and medical conditions I am somewhat satisfied with the progression, still a long way to go.
Good Lord I been lifting longer than most of you have been alive but I still remember day one trying to bench 135 and getting pinned, lol. I was so happy the day I could put the big boy wheels on the bar and bench that…
It all started my freshman year of high school when I touched a barbell for the first time. Yes that was my first ever attempt at a bench press max and it was pathetic…a mere 95 pounds. This experience along with my best freind nagging me to lift with him (also a freshman but benching 185) inspired me to lift weights. And now after completing high school these are my results…
Age 14 (Freshman year)
Bench: 95x1
Squat: never did them
Deadlift: had no idea what it was
Military: yea I was one of those kids that only knew about bench press
Age 18 (End of senior year)
Bench: 255x1, 225x6
Squat: 305x8, 315x6 Introduced to Squat and Deadlift sophmore year and never really did them until senior year
Deadlift: 405x4
Military: 145x4
Freshman in high school, I played football, but didn’t start lifting until Christmas break after 1st semester.

Not as strong as I used to be.
Started lifting age 13 and was quite a beast back then. Injuries have set me back so these days I’m quite a weakling.
I remember being unable to bench 95 pounds, and unable to curl the 20 pound dumbbells. Didn’t squat or deadlift for the longest time. Now bench 335, deadlift 495… still don’t care for squats but I’d guess around 400.
Also when I started I was a chubby 140 pounds (or skinny-fat, whatever… no semblance of abs). Heaviest I’ve gotten up to is a ‘smooth’ 210 (realistically probably similar bodyfat % to when I was 140), now I’m a fairly lean 185.
