How Much Does TRT Raise PSA

Need to give Dr. a PSA sample and i’m concerned it will be high due to TRT. This could very well trigger my already-nervous Dr. to reduce or stop my script.

Anyone with any insight?

Back in 2020, on 20mg E3D, my PSA was 1.2 (< or = 4.0)
I’m now on about 48mg EOD, a bit higher dose.

Should i reduce dose prior to giving blood sample? Or you think i’ll be fine?

ALSO: IF I did wanna play it safe, how long would it take for PSA to lower once I reduced by dose?

Responsible TRT shouldn’t increase PSA at all, possibly even improve it.

Not at all in my case

What do you mean Swoops?

I mean, my PSA did not increase at all

I don’t get it, your previous PSA test was 1.2, you’re worrying about a problem that doesn’t exist.

I’m taking more test now. So wondering if PSA would have risen since that last testing where I was on a lower amount.

You’re worrying about nothing.

If you are really doing TRT and aren’t exceeding significantly your “normal” T levels, why would your PSA go up from the T?

I don’t blame him for asking. Lots of fear mongering went on in the early years of TRT.

You should be fine dude especially with a low dose such as that (which isn’t even 100mg a week)

What is your T and E2 at that dose?

Well isn’t 24mg eod like 168/mg per week?

84 mg per week.

What?

It’s 200ml/mg test.

Am i way off? Isn’t 24mg EOD 168mg per week???

EDIT: my bad. .24ml. SO 48mg EOD. SORRY!

Looks like you solved your problem. Either way, PSA increase in older men is usually an imbalance of T to E2. Your dose, while higher end for TRT, is not super high. I doubt you will have issues with DHT excess etc causing prostate enlargment or increase of PSA.

My PSA was .4 pre trt. At my first follow up appointment six weeks later it was .8
It has been .8 for nearly nine years now. No further increases since the initial. Total T was 767 last time on 120mg/week split eod.

You’re not supposed to test PSA six weeks after starting TRT, you’re supposed to wait at least six months. My PSA is also .8

I guess my Dr. didn’t know that, nor did I. I was a little concerned at first, but it has stayed consistent.

TRT had never affected my PSA

I have been on TRT 7 years and I saw an initial raise from .4 to .7. It has been at .7 for the last 6 years regardless of my dosage. I have taken as much Test C as 150mg a week and low as 70mg a week through the years. PSA has remained stable after the initial increase.
