How Much Does Tiger Woods Bench?

The average guy at the y in my home town–185

The average guy at the gym down the street–255

P.S.

There re at least 5 405 benchers there and a few over that(heresay)

I know bicep size is not directly proportional to bench press strength, but looking at that and considering he is 6 foot 1 inches, i think he probably weighs more than 185lbs and probably can bench at least 225 for a few reps

I doubt Tiger does much heavy benching at all. I am sure his workouts are very functional and sport specific. Big, strong pecs have no bearing on a golf swing. It’s about the core, the legs, the hips, the arms, the shoulders, and above all, flexibility.
That said, I would be VERY surprised if the could bench 225 1 time.
He was an avid athlete in high school and college, ran track and played many other sports, he hasn’t always worked out with bosu balls and shit like that. I would not be surprised at all if he could rep out 225. Which I think people are forgetting isn’t actually a lot. I’m a small mother fucker but even I can bench 225 once.

Who knows. Most guys are not that strong, certainly not in Westclock’s world of guys off the street benching 250 and repping the whole stack on the chest press machine, Seriously? However some guys are very strong, much stronger than you can imagine. Eddie Royal who is a 5’9" 185lb WR for the Denver Broncos benched 225 24 times at the combine. That’s more than a lot of the O-linemen did and most of them are huge. What can he max? Who knows, but whatever Tiger says he can bench, I guess I’d believe him.

In an old golf digest article he once said his max was 240 and that was a while before the interview.

Men’s Health ran an article and survey said the average bench press for 8 reps for the every day guy is 84% of his bodyweight of all gym goers. So at 185lbs that’s a bench of 155lbs. That’s typical of what I see in the gym.

Lol at the average gym goer benching 240 or so. More like knocking out a few reps of 185 as someone else said.

people its a bench press, its not even functional to golf. but looking at some golfers, the only workout they get other than golfing is drinking in the clubhouse. Tiger is probably the only one of a handfull that do alot of weight training, its golf, not a fuckin strongman comp. Its 90% technique,10% strength IMO.

does it really matter the guys a multi multi millionaire weather he benches 300lbs or 30lbs
yea

the thread is about how much he can bench.

At least Y.E. Yang actually did some bodybuilding previously.

It’s about how much he can bench because they’re are lots of people claiming many differet numbers. Who gives a shit about how much it relates to golf. Joe Blow works as a doctor and he claims a 350 bench are you going to say that because he is not a powerlifter benching does not pertain to his proffesion thus it is irrelevant. Give me a fucking break. Benching has nothing to do with 99 percent of the things I do during the day. Does that meani wouldn’t be questioned if I claimed a 500 pound bench?

saw Tiger on tv this weekend and I must say he has an impressive posterior chain

the guy has put on 30lbs of muscle doing the regimen he on. He’s not telling anyone what his max bench is because that is not your concern or his. If he tries to bench “heavy” and injures himself, what do you think will happen? He does reps in the 25-50 range around 80% of his body weight and his max “was” 240 a while ago with a grin on his face. I’ve seen pictures of him putting up 225 so he can do it. So in all honesty does it not seem unreasonable to think that a guy who weighs 190lbs works out a lot has tons of money to spend on personal trainers and nutritionists can’t put up 300? I believe what he finds funny is people wasting time out of their day worrying about this trivial post, plus it keeps his name in the paper.

It’s a discussion in an off topic for. What’s funny is how bent out of shape you and a few others get when things like this appear. Grow a pair seriously.

That’s nothing. Skinny televangelist Joel Osteen boasts a 300 lb bench press.

I’ve played basketball with this guy a handful of times. He’s maybe 5’6" and 130lbs. Maybe. Having witnessed his “athletic ability” up close, not to mention acknowledging his slight frame, there is no way on God’s green earth he can bench 300lbs.

It was on CBS’s 60 Minutes. They said he weighs 150 and benches 300.

He doesn’t look like he lifts at all. But when I weighed 125 in high school, I could bench a legit 250, so who knows.

To be fair, it’s been a good 5 years since I’ve played ball with him so it’s possible he’s gained some weight, but that dude is tiny, I mean TINY, and if he weighed more than 125-130 last time I saw him I’d be surprised.

I suppose the only importance of how relevant it is to golf is that it could give a clue as to how often he probably benches in training, leading us to another clue as to what number claims to believe.

I herd he can bench 455 for a double. really He IS tiger woods. He is so buff

grow a pair? that doesn’t even make sense…Short guys can move a lot of wieght, we had a running back in my high school who could bench almost double his wieight, b/c he only had to push it so far. Kid was like 5’4. I tried to shed some light on your offtopic thread as I use to be a golfpro(still am technically) and spent a lot of time learning things in relation to golf. But apparently I don’t have any nuts…later.

I heard LaBuff doesn’t like to use the bench press cause of his shoulders so he reps out 150lbs dumbells for like 12 reps and then he flashed his abzzzz when the set is done…

Here’s a quote from Tiger himself.

Tiger: “My max was 240 pounds, but that was a while ago. I’m not telling you how much I can do now. Gotta have some secrets, you know.”
