I wonder how much Vulpes avatar girl leg presses
OK…now let’s see some pics of these legs that were somehow so built up.

same here lol
sorry guys, it was a long winded way of saying what inclination do you have the seat at when you leg press? high/low?

Surprisingly good form also
When I use the leg press it’s just at the end of leg day as a sort of burnout. I keep my overall volume low, especially with legs, due to blood clots restricting blood flow in my left leg, so adding in a set of 20 or so leg presses is a nice isolator for a good burn in my quads. Last workout (2nd in years, 1st leg day in years, just getting back in), did a set of 20 with 2 45s per side after 3 sets each of smith machine squat, stiff leg deadlift, leg extension and leg curls. Two days later, I can still barely walk. Evidently I need a wahmbulance! Go ahead, flame on my newfound fat weakness for now, but I’ll be back!

such. perfect. form. you just pretty much /endthread anything you go into with that dude
ps. up to 8pps for low reps with non-sled/high angle seat version and… less with sled/low angle seat versions. zo far from strong. to echo everyone else, leg placement and gut size also makes a huge difference.
like most I’d rather focus on front squats or squats going up since that’ll make me that much stronger when I do use them as a priority movement in the future.

you mean the only squat to build guy or legs in general?
If the latter I have one on my log i could throw up

My opinion is that a thread about leg press numbers is useless without video because Ive never seen the ROM variation on other lifts as I do with the leg press.
this, oh, and their is much variability in the particular brand of machine too. the cybex leg press I can use MUCH more weight than others I have used.
ah, and again, it is A FUCKING LEG PRESS, it does not matter anyway!!! lol

Dude, maybe your legs would be bigger than 27" if you stopped thinking that way.

I was directing that mostly at the people claiming “only squats” or anyone claiming “this/that worked”.
Like the biceps thread…we can cut down on tons of bullshit if we can see what was actually built.
I use the leg press as an assistance exercise in my 5/3/1 program. I use the horizontal one but not with any crazy weight. Usually around 75kg per side while going for 15 reps and above per leg generally.
Its sad how i used to have that really stupid ‘‘hardcore’’ mentality that squats are the only way to get big legs so i didn’t use the leg press for a LONG time. Glad i got past that…

I don’t usually leg press. But when I do… The whole gym knows about it.
Why? Do you use 2 spotters and scream even with no plates loaded? nah just playing.
In regards to the topic it at hand, what sort of angle do you guys have the seat at when you leg press? The leg press at my gym can be adjusted to either a high or low angle which changes up the ROM and support you get from your upper back.
Haha you know it man. Avatar is amazing btw.
I only really leg press because it’s my strongest movement for legs. I got to 20 plates for 4 reps. It’s really the only time I use a mouth gaurd to grind those reps out. No I do not have video but perhaps next time I will.
Aslo being the only real quad exercise where I do not care so much about a good contraction but heavy weight. I use squats and leg extensions for that mostly.
Lol last time I leg pressed heavy was freshman year of high school when I thought it was kewl… got up to 10pps for 3. In hindsight, I probably could have done way more for myself squatting instead. Since then I’ve really only used it for rest/pause type stuff with half that weight, and even then not recently. I prefer to just front squat every day instead at this point, since I can load at least 6 less plates and still beat up on the quads at least as well.
With that said, doing Tabata work with the leg press was always good for a retarded leg pump/possible eating of shit after exiting the machine haha. Now I’m getting nostalgic… might have to bring back some leg press for assistance work sometime in the near future.

I think squats are a good addition to other exercises, but my legs didn’t start to take on serious shape until I began focusing on leg press/hacks with different rep techniques etc.

I agree with this 100%. I could squat 455 for reps long before my legs stopped looking like complete shit (not saying they’re amazing now, but they’re a hell of a lot better). I didn’t see any shape improvements until I started really learning how to recruit the quads with isolation/machine moves under Thibs’ direction. That’s when the squats started to really pay off. Without the isolation moves, squats can just be a matter of “moving weight from A to B” rather than “moving weight from A to B using certain muscles.”
I do think a balance between both elements is necessary to maximize gains though.
P.S. Your wheels are ridiculous lol
