In the past week I have begun to eat about 200-300 more kcals a day to switch from my cut to a lean lean bulk. I am up to about maintenance level (seeing I was 164.5 and eating around 2400), but this morning’s weigh in said I had lost another 1.5 lbs.! I almost fell off the damn scale.
This week I plan to add another 300. Is this enough? To gain I need about 3200! This will only bring me to about 2700.
Just keep adding them in each week, as long as you are progressing in the gym you are losing muscle. Alotta peoples bodies kick up their metabolisms in response to extra calories, I’d add another 300 this week, and then maybe another 300 next week. The worst that could happen is you have an improved metabolism and lose a bit of fat…that doesn’t seem like a bad thing, unless you were at contest level BF, which I doubt.
Add you in a shake somewhere, I take two servings of ON 100% whey in 2 cups of 2% milk. 520cals 66g’s of protein and 11g’s of fat. I think that would help you out a lot.
Well It depends on your height, training program, activity level and bodytype!
On you lifting days id say you need around 3500 calories! 250 grams of protein thats around 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight!
Your going about it the right way by slight increases! Now just give it time and judge your progress and then fix whats not working Be sure to train hard obviously and get plety of rest! you dont grow in the gym!
I am currently about 163 @ 5’11’'. Haven’t gotten my bf tested, but its the lowest I have ever seen it. New veins every week around my abdominal.
The only thing I am weary about is the fact that I am cutting out the HIIT for now every other day. Adding too many calories and not keeping that up could bite me. I am more active though since its getting warmer out, but still its probably not the same.
I really have only been paying attention to carb intake (about 50-60 every morning not counting Surge every wo day) as far as macros. I know I was getting, and am getting enough protein but I will recalculate.
Sounds like you have it figured out we have the same buil Im 6 feet tall and 168 at around 9% so i know what your talking about its hard to go from cutting to bulking you worry if your gona start to loose those abbs you worked and dieted so hard for! Been there my friend! Just try to keep you calories clean! You now what I mean just no crap empty calories and doing cardio 2 times a week is still ok on your non lifting days!!!
