How Long to Stay at Weight After Bulk?

Does this make you feel like one of the superheroes from your extensive comic collection? Fighting the evil “posse” on TN with your mutant brain powers?

haha

If we want to look at science, most people make their best gains in the 10-15 percent bodyfat range. I’d say that the majority of natural and assisted bodybuilders that I talk to, unless they are genetically predisposed to being extremely lean at all times, usually won’t stray too far under that 10 percent or over that 15 percent range. IME, if you are unable to see your abs in some manner while flexing, you’ve probably gone too far. Now, that doesn’t mean you have an 8 pack with shredded intercoastals lol, but have some semblance of an abdominal region.

My advice would probably change slightly for someone trying to make that initial gain, but I’d say after you’ve done one good bulk, there is really no need to let yourself get too fat or stay at that weight for a prolonged period of time because, as we know, that simply makes it harder to lean out, both physiologically and psychologically.

Good read gentleman. Thanks.

yup, dizzying heights, terrifying lows. Really passed the time.

This shit is bananas.

lol I like that you post about your background in literally every thread. For the record I’ve only been training 13 months, I was 135 lbs before lifting, I’m not as cool as a black person but not as lame as a white person, and to top it off I had to become a gigolo for my protein powder and fish oil. But really, no one cares how hard you had it or blah blah blah, a set point is a stupid idea like a lot of yours. If your ideas weren’t dumb, you could defend them well like the scientist you think you are.

I promise I will reply to each one of your posts, and that scares you.

Actually I’m sorry, you look so great shirtless. Clearly working in curls between sets of back exercises has made you a lot leaner.

Me taken 10 Feb 2013 255lbs.

This is me at probably the “fattest” I plan to get right now.

Resolution on shirted AVI picture… crystal clear. Resolution on shirtless “fat” picture… taken during earthquake.
Wow

Clear enough for you?

I have more if you are still looking for things to complain about.
So you’re in the 17%-20% bodyfat range? Cool

at best you probably have 210lbs of lean body mass, at worst, 200lbs of lean body mass.

In all honesty, if you were ever to diet down to a competition lean, I’d say 190-195lbs.

How tall are you X?
?? I’m 5’10. Once again, you are pulling numbers out your ass.
Probably, but most of the Powerlifters I train with are in the 17%-20% (actually tested) and you look like you have the same level of “leanness” that my guys do.

5’10 at 210 is still pretty swole. I just don’t think it’s necessary carry that much bulk, when a lot of it looks to be a combination of fat, glycogen, water, etc.
Watch your tone, bro. I’m 17% and fucking shredded.
Trollolololol

I mean I’m not the leanest guy in the world either, but body recomposition is a year by year endeavor. The biggest mistake I ever did was pushing my body weight up for the sake of pushing up,thinking that I’d be more muscular if I forced my body to accept a higher “set point” I’ve spent the last 2-3 years having to fix my body composition at the same 205-210lbs. Very similar to what Stu has been doing. I feel that it’s better for the individual trainee in the long run to follow a similar route.

I’ll catch the rest of you later. To the OP, I think bluecollartrain wrote some good responses. Take what is useful and leave the posse to the same shit as usual. No one can stop that unless they want to…and they clearly are intent on keeping it going.

I’m off to go lift.
You acting like you are the authority in all manners of bodybuilding because you “got big” and “know guys that have been in magazines and npc competitors” when clearly you do not have half the credibility you seem to think you do is the problem many here have.

You give advices to noobs, yes, but when people disagree thats when everything gets out of control and you try to force down YOUR BELIEFS down everyone’s throat and yada yada yada.

You dont see anyone else here mention training/speaking with pros… do you really think you are the only one here that know very big guys that are succeeding in bodybuilding? (althought even this I doubt cause you never named anyone which is funny to me)

I skimmed over your logs. Its outrageous the # of “i gained 5lbs and am leaner” post that you made in your entire life… yet you never seem to progress much so im not sure why you are so intent on this setpoint thing and do not listen to ppl telling you that YES you would benefit from losing some fat. Im pretty sure you cant even tell what your weakpoints are cause of all that fat.

Here, again. You are fat yes. Let it sink in your head and ask yourself if MAYBE, just MAYBE you could look better and GROW GROW GROW (cause thats what you care about right?) more efficiently if you maybe LISTENED. Youve been doing the same crap for over a decade it seems and sry but I do not see much improvements (no I do not care about your 200 bike falls)

X should diet down atleast to 10 percent body fat to shut some people up lol

Yeah, something along the lines of “visibly losing muscle” after a day or two of dieting.
