towards the end of last year i decide i wanted to get lean…
after talking to many people and reading allot, i found out that bulking is the way to increase muscle size… so from the 1st of jan i started my first ever bulk…
i decided to do this untill roughly mid May (depending on progress) where i would then start a ‘cut’ before summer…
my question to you is how long should i expect to wait before i start seeing good progress?
i’ve been using various online calculators for body fat measurements which also show me the ratio between fat and lean… i’ve also been taking measurements of most muscles to keep track…
i have seen improvments from these sources and it has kept me going and kept me focus… but when i look in the mirror i cant see an awful lot of difference to when i first started… i KNOW all this takes time, and im not impatient, but i am interested to know how long i can expect to see sufficient gains from people that have done all this before…
i’d say around 6 months would make a noticeable difference.
if your lifts are going up then you are gaining muscle, its simple as that. but during bulking up you will gain fat, to a point, too which will cover the muscle
I’ve been lifting for a month or so. On January 13 I weighed in at 138.2 lbs. Today (Feb. 17), I weighed in at 142.0 lbs. My waist size has stayed pretty much the same and that’s usually where all my fat goes. The thing is, I don’t see a big difference in the mirror, but my lifts are better.
It would be stupid for me to stop now, just because I don’t see a huge difference in the mirror. Just focus on making progress and not putting on too much fat. In terms of eating, I’m somewhere between a bulk and a cut. I want to put on weight, but minimize fat gains.
I think 6 months to a year and you’ll see noticeable results. Otherwise, if you don’t then you’re not doing something right…for instance, your diet might suck or your not training hard enough. However, I don’t know for certain. I’m a beginner like you. Just make sure your diet, workout and supps are solid and let the rest take care of itself.
i’m lookin forward to the cut to see wot muscle i’ve formed under the fat… stil a long way to go but like i said, i am progessing in most categories, just need to keep at it like u say…
i’ve always thought i could get some reasonably good results in the times you guys have said (i.e. around 6months - a year) and that wot im aiming for…
BUT… just food for thought… did anyone see this months MensHealth?
the guys in there made some pretty rad transformations in what they said was only 6 weeks!
