How long can I expect to take Test Cyp

I’ve been on Test Cyp 100 mg a week split into two pins a week. I’m on year 10 of doing this. How long can I expect to keep this up? Not feeling like my first few years lately, albeit I was doing hcg every six weeks the first few years. My overall sex drive has slowly been getting worse through the years but I’m getting old, almost fifty now. Exercising and vitamins are still going strong, I do not take the Hcg as it was hard to get back in the day. Thanks for reading and commenting, enjoy the weekend men!!! Thanks again , D.J.

What does your bloodwork look like?
I don’t understand what you are looking for. TRT is something you will be on for the rest of your life.

Ideally, you will keep it up the rest of your life. I am 46. I took HCG in the beginning and quit when it became difficult to get it as well. I’ve been on TRT for 10 years too. My TRT dose has been around 125 mg/wk for most of that. So we have a lot in common here.

I recently decided to run a cycle and I had run out of the testosterone from my TRT doc. I used testosterone I secured through a friend and it turned out to be bunk. My blood testosterone levels crashed to just over 100 ng/dL. As a consequence, I had no sex drive. I’d looked at my nude girlfriend and recognized she was attractive but I did not feel the urge to do anything about it. Looking at nude photos on the internet was like browsing cars or something.

Two weeks ago I went back on TRT. I upped my dose to 350 mg/wk. I am going to run a “blast” before backing back down. Anyway, my morning wood has returned and sex has felt like it felt decades ago. I have only been back on for a week!

You said you exercise, but I’m not sure if muscle mass is a big goal for you. So I’m not recommending you blast or anything but you could up your dose until your sex drive returns and then see how your blood tests respond.

My hematocrit gets quite high. My blood pressure is on the higher side now too. After years of reading, I’ve concluded that they just don’t know if high hematocrit secondary to TRT comes with the same cardio risks associated with polycythemia vera (upon which all the data is based). So I take fish oil, baby aspirin, and drink lots of water. What risks remain, I suppose I’m accepting. There’s length of life and then there’s quality of life and everyone has to balance those priorities for himself. I’ll probably add in blood pressure medication in the next few years if it bumps up.

One thing that helped me make the decision to go on TRT year ago still applies to why I stay on TRT; i.e., There are significant health risks to having low testosterone as much as high testosterone. After a decade of TRT, if you were to go off now, you would have very low testosterone and I don’t know if any combo of drugs could get your natural production back up to healthy levels.

Hope some of that helps.

Thanks so much, your story is so parallel to mine it’s kinda mind blowing!!! My downside is also thick blood and high blood pressure!!! I’ve been lifting instead of cardio only exercising!!! Life is great but it could always be better . Have a great weekend. D.J.

I’m 800 on my trough day. My numbers are in range except high red blood cell count. I donate a lot of blood. Thanks for the reply

This is only 1 value. What’s the rest of bloods look like?
TT
FT
E
SHBG

800 at trough is pretty high. How many days after shot is your trough day?

Right. 800 trough on 100mg/wk is crazy. And he’s in range on his other stats. If TT, FT, E, and SHBG are good, I’m not sure what would be causing low libido.

You could try taking cialis daily. I know that it helps with erections and not desire, but sometimes it’s chicken and egg; i.e., you get an erection and then feel like putting it somewhere, lol. I also like the idea of a bit of vasodilation when our high hct means our blood is thicker.

As long as you need or want to, and/or as long as your health holds out. That’s up to you to check periodically and assess as you go (if you care that is).
