How Hardcore are You?

Some hardcore mothers kick ass in the gym, too.

Hardcore people never refer to themselves as being hardcore. It’s a superficial vanity to do so.
That’s just crazy talk!!

Shit I thought that was what I posted.

This thread never stood a chance… Especially over here in GAL

I get up at 4:30 every morning (even weekends) to do my cardio before my girlfriend even wakes up (I’ll hit the weights later in the day after working a fulltime job. I eat whatever I have to with no regard for taste or enjoyment, only results. I lug a cooler with me everywhere, everyday because I can’t afford to miss a meal that corresponds to my daily macro breakdowns which are carefully calculated and put into spreadsheets every week.

My Sundays are spent doing bulk shopping, and bulk cooking, as I do cannot spare the extra time during the week for either, and this is the only way I can stay on task. I wear a long sleeve shirt under a hooded sweatshirt shivering at work while co-workers complain it’s too warm, and constantly question if I’m ill, but I endure it because I know it means results are coming. I lift weights until I feel naseaous, hunching over feelingdizzy between sets due to improper nutrients, but still always ensuring that I get my ‘work’ done.

I do all these things, because this is who I am, and this is important TO ME, and that is all that matters at the end of the day.

“And if you do not listen, then to hell with you!”

S

I drop cans of sardines in to my protein smoothies.

Fuck yea.

It’s only hardcore if you don’t open the cans.

That nobody has commented on this makes me feel like I’m ancient. One of the top 10 GAL threads ever.

As far as hardcore, I would say it is related to effort and willpower.

Results can be affected by a number of things outside of peoples control, whereas people can tell if someone is truly putting all they have into a workout, or pushing on despite a mountain of crap in the way of their goals.

Not sure what the scale is but definitely more hardcore with my training/diet than those noobs on the indigo team.

Conversely, they are more hardcore than I am at buying Biotest stuff.

Bingo.

I think a title more like “what’s your definition of hardcore?” might have given this thread a bit more of a chance. As is, the title almost automatically turns it into either a pissing contest or a joke.

lol. owned

It looks like the supp is geared towards FFB’s and CFB’s and trying to “fix” their “broken” bodies and they way they store fat?

If you had a buff, already lean guy, I dont think the difference would be as noticable?

Maybe i’m completely wrong though

Your bank account would be a bit lighter…that’s a difference.

The idea is that even a buff already lean guy would be able to just pound the fuck out of some carbs to take even more advantage of his superior insulin sensitivity.

I’ve seen a few names pop up that are definitely serious badasses among the ‘INDIGO TEAM 1!!!1!!1’ group, should be some decent insight. Also I think ParagonA is in his contest prep going onto it, if it does as they say it does he should be able to maintain a pretty good high carb diet while losing fat for his prep, and maintain a lot more muscle than his previous contests(devils advocate though, he could be completely fucking wasting it’s potential because he’s going to be in a caloric deficit and not really abusing the nutrient partitioning effects it should have).

End off topic rant.

EDIT: nevermind

I like spread fresh rose petals around the squat rack before lifting. I find the soft texture of the petals against my bare feet and flowery scent to be invigorating.

It’s easy to be tough when you’re fit, strong and healthy. It’s when you’re in trouble/sick/pain that your character really shines through. See Mike Tyson vs Kevin McBride. Iron Mike throws in the towel with no KO, no injuries etc. This from someone who, in his prime was arguably the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time.
I find your interpretation of boxing history disturbing.
I assume you think Muhammad Ali could’ve beat a 20-year-old Tyson or some such shit? I did say ‘arguably’ anyway. What’s your point here?
I loved Iron Mike but he fought a bunch of chumps. There just weren’t any good heavyweights around during his time. Do you think Buster Douglas could KO Ali? It’s not arguable.

What makes me hardcore?

Giving birth to triplets sans epidural and six weeks later going to the gym, overhead pressing 90 kgs, squatting 100kgs, benching 87kgs and deadlifting 150kgs on the same day before one of my lower back discs slipped.

And despite being in pain (I survived childbirth and root canal sans pain killers for fuck’s sakes!) I refused to leave the gym, wrapped a belt around my back and insisted to finish my set of 200kg pressing on the weight leg press.

THAT makes me HARDCOOOOOORE, baby!!!

So…we really can’t discuss “hardcore” in the sense of weight lifting in a serious discussion on the site?

It may all be relative, but I am pretty sure I am more “hardcore” in the gym than the people who look the same or worse over the same time period. That doesn’t mean the “single mother of three” isn’t hardcore at “being a mother”…but she damn sure isn’t “hardcore” in the gym so it’s a good thing we aren’t discussing her.
So would it be logical to conclude that under your analysis the fictional character “Rudy” should have just looked for another hobby, and that the more talented scholarship athletes on his team were “hardcore” because they got better results over the same time period?

If “hardcore” is only measured by results, and not perseverance and effort, then I know a helluva lot of soft-ass “hardcore” people. I’m not sure I want to be “hardcore”.

And that’s why I think hardcore is more applicable to things outside the gym. Gym hardcore means dick without results.
?

Isn’t that the point? If you aren’t making the results, find a new hobby.

This is completely irrelevant to “hardcore” in my opinion. I’d ask you again, effort and perseverance have no place in the definition of “hardcore”?
