FWIW, I hit a deadlift PR about three years ago right after setting a Z squat 1 RM PR. I think the Z squats “wake up” your quads and get them to more effectively fire.[/quote]
Certainly could be. Are you a sumo puller? I ask because quads aren’t nearly as involved in the conventional dead as people believe (has to do with how the load is suspended), but are highly active in sumos because of the more upright positioning.
