That has to be photoshopped! My mind cannot comprehend his mass. Lol.
I can’t wait for the day when people say that about me, in real life. Just kidding.
Nope Ruhl was actually that freakin’ big. But his mass was too much. For me, most of the pro’s these days are too much. I miss the 70’s, that is my physique ideal.

This is where I disagree. I love the physiques of today lol. FREAK STATUS GO

Yeah. Olympia-level big isn’t something that magically happens the second you take insulin and GH lol.
yes, that’s why I said it’s more of a drug issue than a size issue

Sorry seems I misunderstood you. You are saying you are cool with the size, but not with the drugs. Got ya.

lol my post came off too sassy. I will say that drugs not being a factor, the Haney type physiques are awesome. Unreal size and cartoony proportions, but no huge guts and moonfaces. I wonder if the demand in the near future will have something like an “old-school bodybuilder” category open up, somewhere in between the physique dudes and bodybuilders going for all-out mass.
I certainly hope they don’t open yet another category, its getting a bit ridiculous. At that point you might as well split category by what they are taking. This category steroids only, this category steroids and gh, and the final category steroids, gh, and slin.
The sport needs to figure out what its doing and move forward. It won’t be long before the Physique guys start having proportions like the Classic bodybuilders as the open continues to get more and more massive. Its just a progression, because people have to progress some way to make the sport “move forward.” You can only have so many abs, and so much V-taper before you start to look like a bodybuilder with your taper.

I just went back and watched the video. I will be the first to admit that I give the guy shit pretty often, some of it undeserved. However, I have to say, those lunges were absolutely horrible. I really couldn’t believe the lack of flexibility portrayed in the video. That must have been pretty embarrassing to have been outperformed by the women.
I like how you act above it all but can’t resist the urge to post back. It must get under your skin. I just watched the video because another poster’s comment made me think of it. You see, if I had made that same comment about anyone else, it wouldn’t have received any attention. But, because it’s you, it causes a big fuss. Look, man. I get it: you think you deserve respect. I just point out your shortcomings like I would with anyone else.
Bottom line: I give you respect when you deserve it (i.e. your size), but I’m not going to pretend that you aren’t severely lacking in other areas. In closing, let’s say you are right and I have spent most of my posts giving you trouble. So, that’s what, 200 or so posts? Now, let’s say that you have only even spent half of your posts starting trouble. That’s still 25 THOUSAND posts that you have devoted to being ignorant. I don’t think you have any right to speak on integrity, my friend.
Also, I am sorry about your accident. I wouldn’t ever wish that on someone. But, really, it comes with the territory when you take that chance when choosing to ride a motorcycle. You were aware of the risks. But, I just don’t buy it when, anytime someone critiques a weakness of yours, you blame it on the accident. Really? So, were you absolutely perfect before the accident and only have lagging areas because of it? I doubt that.

I agree with Bauber. That is not to say I hate the physiques of the 70’s. That just simply is not the case. I absolutely love these massive dudes. I do not lift to be kind of big. I lift to be as big as I can be (obviously limited by the fact that I do not use steroids and by my genetics). I will say there is a point where someone is all mass with no aesthetics. I would take a massive guy with okay/great aesthetics (Wheeler, Priest, Levrone) over someone like Zane but I do not like the guys who are so big that they do not have nay aesthetics what-so-ever.

Oh, but, come on. Frank Zane is a legend. He had one of the most aesthetic physiques in bodybuilding history. Plus, he could grow a glorious beard.
I will agree that Zane is indeed a legend, but IMO it has more to do with his 3 Olympia titles than his physique. You would actually find a lot of older lifters who still marvel at how Zane won even one title, especially against human bulldozers like Mentzer. If the judges had never awarded him even one Olympia title, it’s very likely his name wouldn’t be spoken with such reverence.
The funny thing is that I never appreciated Zane physique as much as I do now until I started competing myself. Only then did I appreciate proportion, conditioning, and all the finer traits of a well rounded physique. Of course the fact that there are guys today who can pass a drug test who can match if not surpass Zane’s physique, it’s something to think about.

All very good points, Stu. Thanks for posting. I honestly might have been most impressed with the beard.

I never once said he wasn’t. I even said he was very aesthetic in my post. I was just saying in my opinion I do not mind sacrificing some aesthetics for mass. A guy like Flew Wheeler is pretty damn aesthetic considering how big he was. Same goes for Levrone. I like that better and would pick them any day of the week. I would also pick Zane over someone like Rhul (even though I respect the hell out of him) because Rhul has close to no aesthetics despite his massive size.
As a side note, even though I like Zane, I still consider Mohamed Makkawy more aesthetic. I might be the only one who thinks that though.

Integrity…that’s what I see every time you post.
Pure unadulterated integrity.
stop with these fucking excuses lol.
you right its all your accident… it had nothing do with the fact your where severely overweight, out of shape and lacked basic mobility.
hows this for disability. there is a marine i talk with over at BB.com who had hes knees completely destroyed in an RPG attack. he needed 2 full knee reconstructions and had to learn how to walk again. he now can squat over 3 plates a side below parallel and is able to successfully perform lunges.
