22%bf is pretty close to clinically obese.

The whole “PX only comments on black bodybuilders/if they’re white them their conditioning is off” thing is old news.
It’s like “squats and milk”, “have you tried hitting her” and “PIIHB”

Even so, if you’re carrying a lot of muscle and leaned out with those proportions I think you would end up with 18" or 19" guns. I’m not talking competition lean, but beach ready lean.
I don’t think the typical fatso is sporting 21 inch arms at 22% bodyfat unless they’re somehow storing ALL of the fat in their arms.

Ya if you leaned out you would probably look great but I’m talking about at that time.
22%bf with 21inch arms is too big (fat) IMO for me.
Obviously that wouldn’t apply to an NFL lineman or something like that.

Agreed. The more muscle you carry, the less “fat” you look even at higher body fat percentages.
The average guy sporting those dimensions would stand out as very muscular…not “almost clinically obese”.

Pretty much this.
Most vet pros have taken the sauce wayyyy beyond stupid.

I totally agree with you. Too fat for me too. I’ve been that fat but with smaller arms and didn’t like it. But personally, I have a hell of a time adding size to my arms so I’d welcome that kind of base right now. I would go on a diet immediately though.

Overall, I agree.
I think Kai Greene is impressive, but truth be told, his current proportions only look relatively decent when seen alone on stage and critiquing individual body parts.
In clothes, there is no way to not look ridiculous…and not just “muscular”.
I have always said ideal is usually right when most of these guys win their NPC contest that allows them to go pro.
That was back when Heath looked more “muscular” and less “inflated”.
To win at the pro level requires you to look like an extreme comic book character.
I want to be at the level of “wow”…but not so much at the level of “having to walk around each quad with every step”.
I find it amazing that Kai can move like he does at that size and give him tons of credit for that.

Agreed! I think guys like Ronnie Coleman looked better earlier on, before Mr. Olympia.

LOL. Dude, I’m there now…and I know I’m nowhere near “too big”.
I doubt most guys with a chest over 52" can scratch their rear shoulder or back easily.
That just comes with the territory.

Yeah it really is dependant on the person and their goals. I know as a natty (Oh no!) I will never be too muscular for my liking. Just isn’t going to happen. I have been to fat for my liking, however, and 20%bf is somewhere I never want to be. But for a strongman or perma bulker? different goals which I don’t disagree. Bulking for a basketball player? like you said, there comes a point where you can be too big to play optimally.

I 100% agree with you, and I am not just natty but short which really makes the size at all cost thing no longer my MO. Over 12-15% bf just means my clothes dont fit right, I get ‘stumpy’ and as my job involves lots of face to face meetings and dealings, my appearence is part of my personal marketing and branding. If you dont work in sales, dont give me the ‘appearence should have nothing to do with it’ and remind yourself of the last time you bought something from a fat ugly person when an attractive woman was selling the same thing.
Desired muscularity is kind of like personal style. Everyone has their comfort and condifence level. ‘too big’ for me is when I lose the ‘muscular version of GQ’ look and start having to invest into the husky/relaxed fit wardrobe. Flame away on that last remark but I can give Daniel Craig a run for his money in a good suit, take my shirt off in confidence and still squat twice my bodyweight. So simply put, when getting bigger starts to compromise the other things in life you cherish, you are getting ‘too big’.
You know you’re too big when you walk around every day looking like you’re wearing a bench shirt.

Nope.
Yeah, that is a hassle when holding a phone.
Thank Goodness for blue tooth.
You know you’re too handsom when you give Daniel Craig a run for his money in a nice suit.
