It finally happened. 408 to 3!!
What is wrong with the world today?!?!
ugh…
Its called letting a bunch of money grubbing politicians run our country. If they would quit padding their’s and their buddies wallets with our tax dollars and actually do something of some use for this country it would be whole different country! End of rant! Sorry for the Hijack.
My question is when will the ban actually be imposed? Hopefully they give us a little leeway to stock up. I’ve read somewhere that they wont give leeway, like they did with ephedra.
Hooboy, the world is a safer place now… sigh.
Jesus Christ
sighs in disgust
I can picture the kind of people who voted on this: fat politicians who sit around and wonder why the hell their secretary has not brought them doughnuts and coffee.
They should have actually learned what a pro-hormone is and what it does before they make a decision like that.
Sarcastic tone: Yeah, I am sure that the ban on pro-hormones will decrease steroid use…yeah right Maybe the economy in Mexico will thrive now.
If you abuse the use of anything over the counter it can be harmful to your health. How many deaths a year are because of the use of pro hormones? Hmmm…let’s waste our frickin time banning the use of cigarettes which actually do contribute to the death toll every day!
WOW, sorry about the tangent. Not that I use pro-hormones, I like my body the way it is (and for fear of something like…clitoral enlargement, voice deepening), it is just frustrating to see.
FUCK THEM! If safety is what they’re after they should take a good hard look at alcohol and cigarettes. I’m sure steroid use will soar. Good job guys, it’s always enlightening to have people like you running America.
k.
From what I have read there will be no grace period that we had with Ephedra as soon as this ban becomes law products will be pulled from the market.
Interesting that most of the major news outlets don’t have this story…maybe because it’s a NON-ISSUE that no one cares about until the media tells them to?? Just a thought.
You know, I was thinking about how we (me included) complain about the bozos who run this country, when really, it’s us…not T-people specifically…but the American people, who are willfully ignorant of so many things, who put them there. I can count exactly ONE elected federal government official who has any true respect for actual constitutional freedom anymore (of course there may be a few more). It’s sad how we (collectively speaking again) are willingly kept ignorant by a government/media complex that doesn’t tell the whole story: “steroids bad, therefore prohormones bad, therefore people who use them bad. Must protect chiiildren from evil prohormones.” Then at the same time we have politicians who want to run every aspect of our lives, and the same ignorant masses are perfectly willing to let them so they can feel safe from the evil insert evil item here. Some people just plain deserve to live under a dictatorship. Sleep well, America. That’s right, we’re taking care of you…
I wonder if those drug companies will take advantage of it because there’s a lot of money to be made. You know, they’ll just put out studies or ads and BS how they’re good for “old” people with low teststerone or whatever. It could be the real reason for that. US Govt and FDA tend to side with drug companies and support them no matter what. Look at soy. Alcohols. Cigarettes. over the counter drugs. ADA people (american dietetic association) are fuckin idiots and tends to do whatever FDA and US Govt tell them to do so. I recently swtiched to biochemistry from nutrition because i’ve had enough of their political crap. “Too much protein for you, fats are bad for you, eat more grains, less fat, less protein” WHATEVER!!
Tungsten and bandgeek:
Very good posts.
To be fair, simply banning cigarettes and alcohol probably would just backfire (as was the case with Prohibition). Besides, if people want to kill themselves, I say let them (whether it be from smoking, drinking to excess, or misusing supplements). The real problem is when a substance causes a person to hurt OTHERS (as with secondhand smoke and drinking & driving). THAT’S the true hypocrisy. The drugs that cause people to hurt others are allowed to exist, while those that can damage only people who MISuse them are slapped out of our hands by big brother, who of course knows what’s best for us. How long before government intervenes when someone is seen eating a less than healthy diet (as per FDA standards, of course)? Pretty soon you’ll be arrested for taking in 1g/lb bodyweight of protein, or eating more than 20% of calories from fish oil. Government agencies will form devoted to cramming “carbohydrate rich” foods down our throats like refined sugar, white flour, and rice cakes. Gotta form a nice “foundation” of carbs for your food pyramid, of course.
I think you’re right, the problem is a bunch of sedentary, morbidly obese slobs who are completely ignorant about nutrition and training trying to pass laws about something they know nothing about. The most exercise they do is walking to their carts between holes on the golf course. Why should they take the time to actually do research and understand what prohormones are and what they do? Look into the proportion of deaths that have resulted from abusing Aspirin vs. abusing Mag-10? It doesn’t influence them, and the people who are most affected by such a law make up less than 1% of their constituencies. Besides, there’s no debating that steroids are injectable liquid evil, right? We all saw the after school specials.
I agree totally with you on this one chrispowers , it?s a real shame but what can we really do about except rant and get really , really pissed off! Though the leaders in the western-sphere all are talking about freedom of speech and democracy and the freedom of choice they in the next sentence are heavily restricting these choices by numerous sorts of inhibiting legislations! I may be from sweden and live but there but that does not mean that i?m not aware of what?s happening on the american and global scene. Until now i have purchased these products from uk , but is just matter of time before the scones eating and tea drinking fatties of the english will follow their american brethren and also ban a safe supplement. c?mon put a couple more sugars in your tea mate and shut the hell up!
How will this effect Biotest products, such as Tribex and Hot-Rox?
I’m guessing that Hot-Rox and Tribex will be fine, even though neither compares to our beloved Mag-10.
If either are targetted, I would have to assume Tribex would be under the microscope. It depends on the specifics of the ban and how they interpret natural herbs.
This all makes me so sick. I can hardly put my thoughts around it.
There are some very good posts on here. And, it is true that we allow ourselves to be lulled into ignorance by politicians. When this became an issue, there were several posts with links to sites that gave more info and where to send letters of protest. I sent them to everyone involved and would hope that fellow T-folk did the same. The main reason it didn’t help is mainly due to wealthy pharmaceutical companies. This could be a gold mine for them and they are huge campaign contributors.
That being said, thanks for the laugh this morning, nikki. Clitoral enlargement, wasn’t expecting to read that today. lol.
It’s all a fucking conspiracy. Don’t touch alcohol and tobacco. They make too much money for the economy. Also, can you imagine the amount of health care workers that would be put out of a job? Or all the money drug companies would lose out on from less demand for chemotherapy drugs. Besides, if any legislator supported a bill to ban either one, he’d be voted out of office at the next election. Who wants to vote themselves out of a job, even if it is the right thing to do? Like ChrisPowers stated, the irony is that tobacco and alcohol KILL…directly or indirectly. Then they go and ban ephedra and pro-hormones, products that can actually help people accomplish their goals of becoming HEALTHIER, HAPPIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE, WELL-ADJUSTED MEMBERS OF SOCIETY WITH A VASTLY IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE.
It’s all about the fucking drug companies. They want to ban any really effective OTC supplements, take them over and start turning a profit for themselves.
I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here. Thank you so much Uncle Sam and FDA (Fucking Dumb Asses) for protecting me from myself. I feel so much better when someone else makes decisions for me, even though I’m a fully functioning adult.
I have read, regarding the law and legality of the prohormone ban, that there will be no leeway, 30-days to ban sell what you got, or anything like that. As I understand as soon as the president signs on the dotted like, it becomes law. That means the moment he signs it all the Mag-10 on my shelf in the kitchen, and all the random prohormones on the shelves down at the vitamin shop will instantly become an illegal steroid. It’s not just a ban it a reclassification.
Holy SHIT…is that true, if you have anything like Mag 10 when this passes into law it will be illegal to have or will it be like ephedrea where its just illegal to buy but not illegal to own.
Crap, I am going through the testing phases for Denver police…cant be doing the illegal thing until AFTER the polygraph!!
