Homemade Protein Supplement FROM REAL FOOD

Lets try to be nice now… I have advanced degrees and have been reading research papers for the last 8 months, investigating the short comings in the supplement industry, Im WELL versed in aminos, and starches and mps… and 25 years of weight training…

by all means show me an amino extract that is not oxidized and dried, or ph adjusted extracted, or alcohol extracted… pls direct me to an amino supplement that has an actual real food shelf life without a ton a preservative… the closest Ive seen is the tube feeding supplements and they are LOADED with salt…

I know it’s silly for me to pick one little thing, that’s not even the main topic, and deep dive… but that’s what I’ll do.

Why would it be unacceptable for no one to make a large investment if they determine there would be insufficient return? I’m not being argumentative, necessarily (although I do disagree), I’m curious the line of thinking.

Good catch… more like a “for humanity sake”… type thing. I think theres a huge potential upside but there has to be a reason to go down that road… Im just surprised that the means to achieve isn’t there or the market isn’t there, but we are just beginning to understand how some of the more mechanical molecular processes in our bodies work, so it does make sense we are not there yet… Science seems like it should be all knowing until you see that we are still feeling around in a dark room making guesses on the molecular level…

I don’t understand your takes on this topic. As others have said, there are tons of supplements that would meet nearly anyone’s preference for flavor, source (animal or vegan), and overall processing of ingredients. But this doesn’t seem to be what you want.

The only thing that would make sense from your approach is if you decided you didn’t want to eat processed, isolated protein and chose to get all your protein needs from whole foods. This would be a legitimate and understandable take. Most of us use protein powders to more conveniently hit our protein goals for the day.

But you seem to want to take the whole food at home and just pull the protein out? Then, what, discard the rest? By isolating the protein, you’re not getting any additional protein that wasn’t there prior to the processing, so why not just eat the food itself? I don’t get it.

Legit question… lets start with → fiber severely interferes with protein absorption… its probably not necessary to isolate only the aminos, (even though ive been harping on that, it would be the ultimate goal)… Im happy to have the 1,000mg of potassium that goes along with the 30g of protein in 100g of yellow peas… I just want to isolate all the goodies and get rid of the cellulose… Also some amazing byproducts like PECTIN are discarded when they make the veggie proteins. I vote for more gut friendly supplements and dont just sell us the globulins because they are easy to extract…

Heres a visual for you… take all your favorite high protein foods(other than meat) and blend them up in a blender… next BOIL it on the stove… take a look… theres SO MUCH stuff bubling up in there, lots cellulose making all kinds of gas and bloating in you stomach, anti nutrients and hard to digest stuff… would be amazing to get all the goodies and ditch the rest… and might even give an anabolic response, who knows??

I have the answer.

How many tons of celery to get 30g of protein?

1/2g protein per 100g of celery, so 6,000g of celery? only 13lbs, not bad

Heres an easy one when I wanted some homemade collagen…

Take whole chicken roasted with veggies, eat chicken meat, take carcass boil it in a bit of water for an hour or so… chicken soup right… becomes a thick gel after it sits in the fridge

fresh homemade collagen… what is the shelf life, the cost, how much more functional than what I can buy in the store? idk

I feel like these odd posts used to be more common, and a good way to make use fairly normal posters feel connected.

We may disagree on the value of every squat variation, but we certainly agree that trying to isolate aminos from a bag of frozen peas using a spatula and elbow grease is a bad idea.

It has to do with scale. There is no profit from extraction/rending until you cross the break even point.

Now, due to the equipment being very large, expensive, and its an energy intensive process, the break even point is very high.

So it has to be scaled up to exceed that point. It is of no interest for anybody to collect and process the material required to produce 100 or even 1000 lbs. of basic dry protein.

It has to be done on a scale of tonnage.
