Homemade Exercise Equipment

I found a great link: homemade exercise equipment

and it got me to thinking. What are some of the best ideas you’ve had for homemade exercise equipment? Someone posted the idea of using scaffolding for a cheap squat rack awhile back, which I thought was a great idea and will be starting on within the next week. The link above had some great and simple ideas (homemade medicine ball=b-ball filled w/ dried beans and duct-taped back together, instructions for a cool grappling dummy, etc.) I’m trying to put a decent, cheap, and very compact home gym (to fit in a corner of my studio apt.) so any ideas would be appreciated. Right now I’m thinking scaffolding squat rack, sandbag, med. ball (cause it’s cheap) and some dumbbells.

I did the med ball thing…filled a few basketballs and kick balls with sand then duct taped them together. Works fine…but don’t throw them.

Sandbags are your best bet.

In all honesty, you could go to a flea market or yard sale and pick up a ton of exercise plate for almost nothing. Buy some JS or Iron woody bands, and you’re set.

Some of the stuff that guy made looks kind of crappy.

The best buy I ever made was a couple of 4x8 bricks from the stone yard I work at, and I use them for knuckle pushups in my room. You can also stack a few of them, and elevate yourself for a deeper pushup. By the time you do regular ones on the floor, they feel like nothing.
