Sorry for the lack of posting. My oldest son and I were away for a few days at a hockey tournament. But nothing really to post. Just around 80% max stuff for singles over the past week getting ready for this Sunday’s meet.
My weight is hovering around 270 lbs and is great for getting stronger but has gotten me worried about my long term health.
I will be starting a cross between the velocity and velocity lite diets the day after this Sunday’s meet. I want to combine this with a Wendler routine and some sandbad/sled drag outdoor stuff. My goal is to be more around 220-230 and still be pushing the same weights around.[/quote]
good luck with that. 220-230 is pretty drastic. the dead and squat shouldn’t suffer too much but the bench…
I’ve just gotten so fat. My gut now hangs over my belt when I’m sitting. The veins in my shoulders/ biceps are completely invisible. From what I’ve read on this site about the diet my weights shouldn’t drop to drastically. Be interesting to see.

be sure to do it really really slowly. don’t go on one of these zero carb diets. i think if you were to just add in some sled dragging on gym off days you would see a big difference.
Thanks Meat. Maybe I will start a little more slowly. First drop the nightly pigging out. Then the ice cream at work. Add some sled dragging/ outside stuff.
Getting pumped for the push/pull this Sunday. Looking to open with 375 for bench and 500 for dead. Second attempts will be 405 and 550. Then I’ll see how I feel but hope to try for 415 and 575. I’ll PM everyone where to find the results and my name as soon as its available. Been boring this week not training. But been reading all your threads. Everyone is still looking strong.

Timing my carbs, the extra work, and eating cleanly has been the trick for me. The whole deal has been relatively painless, which is the funny thing.
Thanks Willy and FF. I feel good about this meet. Going to make a sled with a tire I found and purchase a sledgehammer and get the outdoor training revved up soon. A lot of great workouts online for the outdoor training.

Perfect time of the year to start thinking about those things as the weather warms up. Locally now is when the real spring starts.
E, we still have a few weeks until spring up here. But its always fun getting outside and working up a good sweat. JimmyT sounds like he has the best outdoor setup.
Skid and Kmc, I hope to have a couple PRs this Sunday.

Just got home from the meet. Here’s the break down:
bench 375, 405 415 miss
deadlift 500,550 600 miss
415 came off my chest but I couldn’t lock it out. I pulled 550 real easy but over shot and tried for 600. I should have stuck to the plan and tried 575. As soon I was done I took off and didn’t wait for who took what place. But I think I took best raw lifter in my class.

You must have been at the end of the flight I’d bet.
4 out of 6 is pretty good and those are nice numbers all round.
