Yes. Lets kill the internet and move to monasteries where we all do nothing but lift weights, eat, sleep, and speak sign language.

fightingscott i second the suggestion for moving to monasteries and doing nothing but eating and lifting. Amazing how all the guys who said you can’t hit different portions have suddenly ceased to contribute. Thanks to all the guys with the suggestions, I think i’ll stick to the heavy weighted dips for a while.

You can NOT work differant parts of the pecs with differant exercises. It is ONE big muscle (with an extra small muscle near the clavicular), therefor benchpress make the pecs grow the exact same way as dips or flies. So just make your pecs bigger allover, because they NEED mass allover (just like the rest of your body) and you will probably be happy for them.[/quote]
Then what am I incline, decline, and flat benching for?
I think both schools of thought are right. The pec will fire as a whole but you can definitely stress areas more then others by changing the angle of attack.
I’ve done it and have seen it done enough to trust it. I can’t debate the science behind the way the pec fires so I think that is true as well.
The secret may lie in deceleration in the movement…that’s my story anyhow.
To DaBeard:
Try your dips with a reverse grip, better stretch. Try to feel the up movement in your biceps instead of the triceps. I know it sounds funny but if you pull instead of push you isolate the chest much better on the movement. You might want to lighten up and just do bodyweight while you get used to the movement and feel the muscles work.
Good Luck.
