re: everything else–up your freaking calories. But it’s going to be challenging with IBS and the fact that you’re never eating anything, so up them by maybe 400 cal/ week. You absolutely must have a log to track your increase and verify that you are in fact raising calories. Let your body get a (albeit small) handle on the increasing food intake. It will give you no end of trouble if you’re trying to do it all at once.
re:lifting–I really like the 5x5 program, but I don’t think it’s what you need right now. You need to stay in the above 6 rep category. Sorry to hear about your phys. difficulties-I don’t think I’d feel like a human being if I couldn’t deadlift and squat. As Jon Paul Sigmarrson once said “there’s no point in being alive if you can’t do the deadlift.” Anyway, if you’re determined enough you’ll find a way to succeed regardless.
Ok…I will count all my calories tomorrow, and post them on here. Then I will increase them the amount needed and keep posting so ya’ll can stay on my case. Thanks again!
BTW…I’m gonna have to disagree with ole Jon boy…there’s alot more to life than the deadlift…haha. I will do my best with what I have for sure. Peace
I posted my diet for today on my blog…I got in alot of calories. Let me know what you think about nutritional breakdown, and if there’s anything I need to change. Thanks!

I’d still like to see some more meat and fish in there, but it’s good you’re starting to log this stuff down it’ll give you a better idea of what’s going on.
One question: why is there a 4 hour gap between your pre and post workout shakes? I’m hoping your workout didn’t take that long? and if not, why did you wait so long between?

what an encouraging thing to say to someone who can’t deadlift
anyhow what about rack pulls? is there any degree to which u can bend forward without rounding ur back?
what if the bar is at knee level?
haha yeah no joke…but it’s cool I understand how big a lift the deadlift is. Actually yes, I can bend to a certain degree…just not all the way down to the floor. I was doing deadlifts on a smith machine with the bar spotted a little lower than knee level…is that what rack pulls are? Are they effective?

I’ll work on that…I think I will be eating more fish and meat b/c I’m getting married on Sat and my fiance loves to cook salmon and meat w/ veggies and all that good stuff.
The four hour gap is probably misleading. I took the NO Explode about an hour before and waited 30 min. before i took the whey and stuff…then I got to the gym at about 5:30 and my workout took about 1 1/2 hrs. Then I took in the other meal, which I probably started about 7:30.
hell yes rack pulls are effective… and what u described is a rack pull in a smith machine… instead of doing it in there go to a power rack and set the catch bars so that the weighted bar sits just below ur knees or however far u can go down without rounding
this will hit ur back like crazy… not so much ur hamstrings but there are plenty of other exercises for those haha… seriously that motion is in my opinion the hands down best back builder there is… bent over rows are good but they can’t touch rack pulls IMO
Just wanted to say that you have a similiar physique to drivethru, but without the dooshbag attitude. I respect the fact that you are willing to take advice from others.
My lifting partner has mild cerebral paulsy. He has incredibly tight hamstrings as a result. He used to not be able to squat without rounding his back. Get a adjustable box squat box. Stress form when you use it. Slowly lower the height as you gain flexability. Use a shoulder width stance.
For deadlifting, he’s more comfortable and can use better form sumo, although he can lift more with shitty form conventional.
Good luck man, You seem willing enough to get what you want. All that’s left for you to do is to get it.
This stuff takes time ~ you’ll go through growing pains. You should expect to apply as much as learn, don’t get stuck reading studying and discussing when you should be DOING something.
Wow. I wanted to flame, but I think the kid is legit. I think he really wants to improve. Modify what you can to keep working your back and legs and keep lifting. If you can’t do something, figure out how to modify the movement so you can get something out of it - such as the Smith deads. Keep lifting and when someone tells you that you can’t do it, work twice as hard to prove them wrong. Do shave the mustache, though.

says otherwise. I’m not insecure so I can take the harrasment from you :0)

hahaha!!!
as far as the calories, eat alot but do not gorge on crap.
eat alot of meat, milk, vegies potatoes that kind of thing
do not get your food from a box or a wrapper if at all possible.
also if you cant do the weights and stuff, start slow and light.
have you ever thought about martial arts?
my starting point in learning body weight exersizes and learning flexablity and stuff was in martial arts.
I am not talking bout hard core MMA stuff but say the local tkd place.
get into something and around supportive people.
I never understood this. How do you not know how you look? Why would post a picture like this? I started really skinny with no muscle and would never post a picture on a site like T-Nation without even putting in any serious time or effort. And when I mean serious time I mean years. And only then would I post this before picture along with an after picture that shows serious progress. And again, I do mean visible progress. Otherwise, you have no business posting pictures on this site.
Do you really need people on this site to “hit you with it”? Isn’t obvious to you that it doesn’t look like you lift? WTF???
Whoever wants to give this guy shit, try reading his posts. He has serious challenges to overcome in order to achieve his goals. I think he’s courageous. Yes he’s small, congratulations for noticing. There have been some people to provide some really good advice, but a lot of the posts are stupid as hell.
OP wish you a lot of luck. Hopefully you can figure out something with the IBS, some doctors know a lot more about it than others. Has eating more protein helped at all with some of the neuromuscular problems?
