HIIT Calories vs. Cardio Calories

Is there any difference or preference in HIIT Calories vs. Cardio Calories? In other words is there some advantage to having burned 400 calories thru HIIT as opposed to having burned 400 calories from just regular cardio?

Weird question but I guess you could say the regular cardio calories would mostly come from fat while the HIIT calories would mostly come from muscle glycogen.

HOWEVER the real magic of HIIT supposedly doesn’t come til later in the day (the metabolism boost). So, theoretically you should burn MORE calories overall from the HIIT session.

I’m sure there will be differing opinions on this.

Use both if you ask me.

I think the HIIT calories burned goes further after the workout than steady-state cardio.

Something like cardio burning extra calories for an hour after the workout, and HIIT burning calories for something like 4 or 8 hours after.

I forgot the specifics.

Best thing you could do is read up. Start with the Cardio Roundtables I and II and then some of the others than hit exactly on this topic.

In the end its which ever you can drag you butt to do on a consistant basis that is most effective when cardio is needed and which one better fits athletic goals.

Your correct in your post. Which ever you choose just be consistent. That is the “best” way to work out.
